It looks like all the soldiers seem to glow a shiny black at a certain range.. even in the fog they are extremely easy to see.

I noticed this too. Dust and fog no longer obscure your view of enemies, even though it obscures everything else. Was this intentional or just a little bit of screwy programming?

I wondered the same thing, players stick out like a sore thumb now compared to the last build. In open maps it really looks odd, but on the new map it looks good.

You wonder if CCP is working on layers of particles and layers of coloring and this is just a test of that.

Yes CCP please look into this, it's very annoying and clearly a glitch. If no one else has by later, I'll toss something into the bug forum about this

More than likely it's a Z-sorting problem with the new textures on the dropsuits (they have more detail now) and the images they are using for particles are sorted in an opposite fashion making the textures of the new dropsuits "pop" in front of the particle textures they use for the environment.

Just something I've seen working on things like this before :) I wouldn't get too used to seeing people that easily, I'm sure it's a bug.

It seems as if the models are on top of all the effects instead of in them.

I think it's great, it reminds me of the good old shooters when everyone was still tweaking their games.

I like you can see the players at a distance, plus, the fog is a cool effect but it generally makes sniping more challenging than it needs to be. If you want a foggy map it should be a smaller map where sniping wouldn't be as important.

this is why i am against filters.
they make everything look like garbage. it's like battlefield with the crappy blue/bloom/glare filters.
they don't make the game look better.

seriously everyone should look at the difference between alpha battlefield 3 and release battlefield 3

I THINK it has something to do with the new type of particle effects mentioned in the patch notes, and the new 'particle effects effected by wind' thing, im pretty sure that the 'super imposed over the top of everything' look will get hotfixed, they test everything during downtime so im sure they know about it.
