You cannot actually gain any height with them, It was cool dropping people off on towers, it was nice to be able to try and stay undetected/out of the swarm range at a height, now you get up to a certain point and it just stops. It's not even like someone could argue that the thrusters need land, because even if you go up a mountain, the height restriction stays the same.

I agree being able to go up really high is part of the allure with the dropship, setting up mobile spawn points huge buildings is awesome, this move is just plain STUPID. |

actually I find it annoying when the dropships just get ridiculously high up, spawn people and mob the map with rocket turrets...just seems a little unfair |

Maybe it's because of the game engine's limited draw distance ... spawn camping in a place that can't be reached other then from another dropship is a tactic, but maybe not one that CCP wanted
Also, the fact that you could rain down missile fire in a area where you can't see the ground forces yet kill people is another issue. I'm a infantry soldier myself, and I can't tell you how many times I've been killed from missiles that seam to have come from empty towers.
I'm not saying it's a fare trade off, but if that's the case, CCP should just make it so that forge guns and missiles dissipate/explodes once it reaches maximum distance. I don't get hit by missiles from invisible ship, you guys get to keep higher ceiling limitation. |

Why limit where you can go on the battlefield boggles my mind, this game will eventually be a real mmo with 64 player plus in battle and 100s down the road, so these little events that you complain about now will be handled by all the dropships already in the air. You have to look to the future, and this game is being built to be a massive multiplayer which it is not yet, but try to imagine maybe a year or two down the road, ccp is designing this game for 100s of player playing together at one time. |
