Now dust will be less about how many hours you've played, and more how offen you keep up by hitting the skill cap each week.
Skill boosters are now not pay to win. They are pay to hit the cap faster. So you don't have to play as many matches, so if you play enough you won't need boosters.
Right now some people allready have 18 million sp. So the game rewards you for playing it for 8 hours a day, And for people who can't keep up they fall behind and loss.
Now the casual player still gets up to 6 million sp, and the guy playing everyday who hits the cap everyweek only has 7 million awesome. Because I hit the cap usually each week.
I'm glad it's now less about how long you play dust. |

Skill boosters were never pay to win. That's not what pay to win means.
Anyway it's a good change. Keeps the general theme in-line with EVE, that is that "grinding" isn't a thing that exists in the game. Hooray. |

glad people are seeing the positive side of this. I am glad ccp are rolling it closer to how they want the economy to roll out (and playing it closer to the eve frame work). |

No sp grind, still isk grind maybe. EvE was better with this then most mmo, and DUST is looking to be better then EvE. Looks like it will be isk grind optional. |

I am so happy that they're putting us onto a more passive form of SP gain, similar to EVE. They might need to tweak the cost for some skills, though we'll just have to see how it rolls out from here.
The great thing about this, is that the hardcore players are STILL being rewarded for playing to their hearts content. How?
ISK
From salvage to contract reward, the more you play, the more you make (so long as you're descent). This still gives you an advantage over someone who has the same SP as you, but has to really pick and choose his battles thanks to limited funds. You'll be able to call in vehicles more often, field better suits more often, take bigger contracts more often (thanks to collateral), etc etc.
Very happy with this new direction so far |

Do you know the difference between SP farming and just playing daily in general to level up? But meh I'm glad I didn't put any more money into this game if I have no incentive to play more then once a week. |

If you manage to hit the cap 4 weeks in a row by only playing one day a week, I will give you $40. how about that? Seriously, I doubt its even going to be possible to hit the cap within 24 hours of gameplay. |

When someone is in the backfield crashing LAVs just to repair it and gaining up to 400,000 SP a match doing so, I would call that SP farming |

Keep in mind that they want the skill development of characters to take years.

I think it more means that its pro-rated for if you joined a game late/left a game early. I believe the relationship between WP and SP will stay the same in general. |

Not really, it's the same question someone could ask about EVE. And, like EVE, the answer is that you will never catch up, sure, but you don't need to have 100 million SP to be competitive. A headshot from a sniper rifle is still a significant thing whether it's shot by someone maxed out or someone totally new. Just as EVE newbies can skill into a rifter or something and tackle for a fleet, providing a valuable service despite being very low in SP and unable to ever catch up, so too will a new Dust player with decent FPS skills still be an asset to a team provided he doesn't forget how to shoot people in the face. |

I have been playing in free gear most games the past two days to see what happens. While my kdr is no where near what it normally is, i'm still able to be competitive. Though looking a year down the road after the game is released it will be interesting to see how many skills you can have maxed out by scoring the max SP each week. |

I'm glad it's now less about how long you play dust. Ok so what about the players play year from now? They will never be able to catch...hmmmmmmmmmm That's actually a good point That's assuming that:
- Everyone's characters will always be created with the same number of skill points we start with.
- They don't introduce a skill cap booster for new players to get more SP per match & have a higher ceiling.
- That there aren't brand new skill trees that they could tackle instead of chasing after what you're doing.
- They're going to need to catch up to compete. We've already been testing the automated match system which should help for highsec matches.
This isn't a solo experience. It's a niche. A 14v14 player game of forge/tank/shotgun. |
