So.
I made meself a nice SOMA HAV, fitted it as best as I could, my skills being LVL I and II. Lotsa armor and speed-module, and nice weapons (militia-grade but hey, a TANK!)
And I was ready TO ROLL! I placed my order for a sweet sweet killingmachince, got it spawned. On top of a SUPPLY DEPOT. (How does the game calculate the drop-points?) Ok then... I managed to get it moving but you know what? It was slow as hell! And I mean SLOW! Near unusable. Even with the speed-module.
And naturally I managed to die very soon after that.
Yeah. Maybe someday I will try them again. Probably not. |

Yeah. Maybe someday I will try them again. Probably not. i don't pilot tanks, mainly cause they are loads of isk and if you don't pilot them near corners to avoid getting blasted or turn your tail to run away like a chicken you lose them fast. also armor plate mods slow the ship. adding a speed mod seems kind of a waste of mod space. |

Speed mods on an Armour tank. Whatever next :P
Keep using Somas. Mine is 150k, and is an excellent tool for either distraction or in a support role. Just get some money behind you. Once you have a few million, the 150k price tank is great. My suit costs 225k :P

It's actually not as bizarre as it sounds Tony. The nanofiber counters the extra plates weight and gives it back it's manueverability.
I've yet to test it but I've built a speed fit soma that does 34m/s. Granted it's a glass cannon, but It's got 3000hp shields that can be boosted :P
I tend to fit nano's on my armour tanks as it really helps getting back up to speed and can save you some being able to get out of trouble. The soma example is extreme granted, but it's viable if you don't go silly with it imo.
Also two small armour repairers can be equally as good as one heavy if not more versatile. |

Sounds like he's dual tanking it, but offsetting the armor tank with nanos. In short, it's the worst fit HAV ever. |

It's not like how he fits it matters. We're talking the difference between two and three swarm launchers. It only survives until you annoy someone who has more than 500k SP or two people with 0. |
