I was actually thinking about something like this a bit earlier. They could have things like an 'alien' invasion, or any of the various NPC factions, where we could fight them on the ground.

Basically a pirate faction stole and broke a bunch of **** on a planet. Why this is relevant to us is the hole " landing party's" that werexalso involved. This could be the back story to some of the reasons for the dust highsec fighting that doesn't effect faction warfare. |

Angel rarely act in such manner, they're typcially drug heads and dumber than normal mafia crime groups so extortion is not likely the reason for blowing up the facility. |

Angel Cartel are pirates that live in minmitar space.
There attack was in Molden Heath minmitar space.
They also mention landing parties and capturing bio domes on the surface.
This concernes us because potentially in the next build we might be fighting over bio domes in molden heath and people might want to know why.
Also the major contractors for that engagement will be either loyal matari(minmitar) corporations, or angel cartel forces.
Its rumored the cartel found ancient jovian tech and they used it in some of there fastest vesels. Yeah they have a lot of cash. |

First off its boring in dust 514 now with no news and waiting on patch notes and build right now any sort of eve side news is interesting especially if ground forces where involved.
Remember dust 514 story line started back what 2.5 years ago? This beta is part of the story line right now. There is a reason why its called Mordu's Private Trials. |

Based on the responses, this could be considered a fair indicator of the new build coming soon. Not looking to start more speculation, but if the "ground troop" argument holds any merit, then it does concern us. CCP will often hint at their "news breaks" in fictional story lines such as this. This is the RPG aspect of this game...

Well, that cold definitely put the "resets" in a more sinister light if you looked at them from a story line perspective. Especially if you consider the ones where we didn't keep our character names. |

Also alot of our tech is extremly brand new or modified from previously used equipment. Most of these are not designed for standard infantry use. Plasma Rifles we have would flay the operator alive. The HMG has had been a vechile mounted weapon before. Drop Uplinks is based on extremly new technologies in eve online side itself trying to reverse engineer what the sansha have been doing to the empires these last few years.
Its an arms race too. Imagine that the AV nerf was not the result of manufactuerers building worse weapons but better tanks? Tanks so good that AV weapons where a quater as effective? |

I remember this character was originally a member of the Angel Cartel (Archangels to be exact, i believe) I'm even trying to work out how for her backstory...
So the testing seems to have moved from among the pirate factions to the tests being undertaken by the 4 main nations...
... and yes the beta phase of the game has been written into the plot, that's just how CCP go about things,

I think its cool that the beta phases are in the story of the DUST mercs all the wipes could correspond with refining the implants and either getting new volinteers/victims to test on, balencing issues could be wrote off as the arms race of new teck as someone suggested, hit detection and other character flaws could be wrote off as adjusting to being a 7 foot tall super soldier or monster in other words, so effectivly release is when the DUST mercs are fixed or at least stable and not writing 514 in blood in there captains quaters, this would also explain some of the fourms mentally unstable soldiers |

That last line IS interesting. 'empyrean technology' refers to sleeper tech, right?
That mandate must have been updated since wormholes opened up. If iris a much more recent update it could be referring to us- or at least the parts of us crammed between our cranial lobes...
Concord is not touching my implant. I have grown 'attached' to it.
Btw, don't tell CCP but I managed to get a clean clone off station. It was during a recent ambush match on the communications map. I get ready to spawn in and the idiot tech with the clipboard ( I know you know this geek; he stands by the RDV dock watching us every day), he stops me and informs me my drop suits invalid...again.
I was tired of the red tape crapola. If you want me to fight, drop me. If not, put me back in my box. He wasn't amused but just then that one guy, Bad Furry, leaves the line and tries to get into the RDV!
Geek tech got all uppity and territorial, shouting out regulations and what not. I slipped out to the starboard hanger and saw them loading the clones into CRUs for drop.
I told one of the techs that I was invalid just as he was finishing the load out. Luck would have it, the last clone was mine. "I'm headed back to the MQ; I can wheel that thing back to cold storage for you.". He never took a look at my name badge.
Wheeled my corpse right onto an outbound fueling shuttle after I pulled in a favor (big favor) from the guys I know in S4 logistics
I just got word that my 'shipment' was received by Sanchez Cartage Inc, Hallenen System, Black Rise region.

I doubt it. Unless CCP has some planned event in TQ, when we get there. If said event happens it would likely be CCP playing as the Angels and players murdering DEV's. They do events like that from time to time. I would like to see an event like this for DUST. |

Wrong, Noob. =)
The DUST/EVE storylines are already integrated.
One thing every EVE vet knows, is that these news items can allow a player to put themselves and their assets in a very lucrative position if they can figure out what's going to evolve from the backstory.
In New Eden you need to be thinking months ahead of the news story, if you can. |
