How many of you would use an XBow if there was one?

I am thinking about something like a sniper rifle but at closer range. It would be cool if we had an XBow that we could retrive the ammo back once we kill the enemy.

Not sure about the long term uses of it but it would sure be a fun thing to have!

I don't think some kind of energy melee weapon would be out of the question like a sword, but a bow is just silly. There is a reason army's stopped using them for projectile weapons when guns got made. Swords and nova knifes makes since because guns are less effective at melee. At range guns always wins vs bows and arrows.

And as for the silent argument there are quiet guns too.

but irl we don't have high tech shields and armor that is only weakened by outrageously powerful guns that would kill a normal unfitted man just to fire.

That isn't necessarily a point for bows. The energy of the bullet being transferred to the sand would mean a more severe wound. Punching a neat hole through the target -- which broadhead arrows don't exactly do, but I'm guessing you weren't using those -- isn't as potentially lethal.

I would guess a high tech arrow, micro tech too beat a shield at attack point? 2 stage with propellant to defeat the Armour?

I give up why not go the whole hog and have laser pikes and plasma muskets as well.
