So you have a community of people that tried to live up to its potential, even without the tools and resources or game mechanics, running into casual/hardcore players that jsut care about KDR's. So some people played the game to be bigger than it was, while most just played the game as is. -=-=-=-=--=-=-=- Once the Shadow War was pretty much ended, alt accounts prevailed, and clan tags began to mean less and less. All the politics stem from the fact that some people thought there was some sort of organization. Reality was, there was none. It was just a big clusterfuck of fronting and posturing, taking credit for victories, and blaming others for your losses. I looked at the game as a community. Again, a silly idea, because most people still held onto the "Im on SVER, I'm on Valor. SVER people suck, Valor people Suck" mentality, even though everyone played all three sides. As breakage said, you had to be there to really get your finger on the pulse of it. But essentially, what defines MAG politics, is the fact that everyone was playing a different game, depending on what clan tag you had at the time.

OK, so yeah, a lot of our members did jump from clan to clan, but that's what happens when you're a training clan...but our core are still together under the same tags. Sadly, I do expect a lot of former MAG players to continue to clan-hop and/or make up new clans/corps every time the lose or the inevitable ego-based fight breaks out...

Here's a question: would a casual EVE player be able to understand the politics like a "real" player would?

Whats funny to anyone that has talked to Hivemind that he does not have an ego. Far from it. I know the real man, I have spent hours talking to him in ventrillo and he is one of kindest, nicest people I have meet in New Eden. Honestly a great new friend, that like all of you, just wants to have a good time playing a game he loves. If thats an ego, then we all have the same ego he does.
