The controller becomes so unresponsive that I cannot even walk or aim when I'm using the headset. What's the deal?
Edit: I found that If I am experiencing the severe lag stutters when using my headset, if Iunplug the USB dongle mid match for about 10 seconds, and plug it back in, all lag disappears. Server lag is of course still an issue, but the stuttering from my headset is not an issue.
This has removed all severe stuttering for me for the last half hour or so. Anyone experiencing the PS3 Stereo Headset lag should give this a shot, and post back here. |

if you're refering to the bluetooth headset, i never had any problem with it.
But, it may not be dust related but bluetooth channel related. Check the internet to see if there's a way to set the headset on a different one. |

Not the bluetooth one.. As far as I can tell that only has one speaker, so it can't possibly be the "Stereo" headset. I'm talking about the one with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. |

There is only 2 speakers. You don't get true 7.1. And Turtle Beach offers a 7.1 headset. XP500's |

I have noticed severe lag since using my headset but I never thought of that being the cause of the problem... I'll switch back to bluetooth tonight and have sound through speakers and see what happens.
gonna subscribe to this thread and see how it develops. <-- using Astro MixAmp + Astro A30s for virtual surround sound. |

there are few threads about this "stutter" / lag issue with 7.1 headset ( use Search function..)
Try getting that ubs reciver closer to yourself ( use longer usb line in between, if you play from sofa and big tv screen you are farther away from your Ps3 .. )
I had that issue but helped when got closer to reciver..

I'm using a wired headset, not bluetooth, I wasn't (potentially) getting this issue when using bluetooth
note myself, grit_breather are connecting via usb (either by dongle or wired) |

I use that same headset and don't notice any more lag than my squad mates, so it would appear to be situational. |

I was considering trying out a pair I saw at Walmart in a month or so when I return the PS3 Stereo Headset (Walmart says 90 return period, Sony says new official headset in October, I say use and abuse!) Anyway, there was a pair of Turtle Beach's that were around $130 and I was considering giving them a go before I get the new PS3 headset. |

I have the wireless Sony 7.1 surround sound headset: http://www.slashgear.com/sony-ps3-wireless-stereo-headset-offers-7-1-virtual-surround-sound-27155144/
And have never had a problem with lag / controller issues... just the normal mic/uvt glitches that restarting the game or switching UVT channels fix
I did also set up the port forwarding for the game which includes the VOIP port |
