Anyone notice the large amount of proto guns and suits starting to spring up right now? Used to be i could hold my on pretty well. Now i am getting slaughtered by guys in tough suits and wicked weapons. I have to play harder now, but then the stakes get higher since i have to upgrade my own things.
I think this is exactly what ccp wanted. Uber competition. To keep playing, one must step it up. If you have 3 bad games in a row, you are broke! Smart ccp.

Everyone is spending ISK like mad now that the new build (and reset) is so near.
I've already spent 11 million, but I'm having a lot of trouble running myself dry. I just seem to not die. |

Inevitable with the 1mil SP award to those who played during the corp battle weekend a few weeks back. I've noticed my ability to kill drastically drop while the number of Duvolles that have killed me has increased. |

"Clever Girl" Ah, the good old Proto. Never used one. Too "rich" for my taste. This is sort of rigged. If you're good, you get better weapons/armor and get gooder. Then you kill more, you get more ISK and SP, then you're the goodest! But if your bad, even if you contribute, you most likely won't get to Proto. It will be too expensive. But the wipe is coming, so that will even things out. And yes, that is probably what CCP wanted. (Note: Grammar is badest on purpose.) |

Indeed it's because we're at the end of this cycle. The wipe is coming, sure, but that doesn't mean we won't be right back in this same spot in a month.
There will likely be many more skills coming that'll entice people to invest in which will spread their SP out, in turn making the climb to proto in one particular area take a bit longer for some, but others will focus on one thing only and do it in a month again. It's the nature of the game. Also, we are in Beta, anything can change at any time without warning. For all we know, CCP may cut the SP earned in half essentially making proto take twice as long to acquire. Or maybe it'll be the same. Who knows.
Keep in mind a lot of folks also got to proto by slaughtering with tanks early on and others from SP boosting. (some players are legit, i'm not saying they aren't, but a lot got where they are by wisely utilizing loopholes in the game and you can't blame them for it). Assuming those things get fixed, again, proto will take longer to acquire.
The wipe is only a temporary level playing field. People will rapidly excel at what they do best. It's how it's designed. I agree it is crazy to see everyone running around with proto weapons, but i believe when we begin to get more skills, abilities, vehicles, installations, etc. the climb to proto will be a much longer one and there will be more tools to counter those that do.
Also, keep your options open. If you found it hard to gain SP by killing, you may have to face the fact you just aren't a great killer. There's nothing wrong with that in this game. Find what you are good at and aim for proto in that field instead. |

I splurged last night and got myself a proto AR, I figure they will likely be resetting everything soon, so who cares if I have to spend 150k a death, I have 17 million ISK, no reason to hoard it now.
Although that proto AR completely wrecked the PG/CPU on my type II suit, so had to give up a few things in order to use it. Downgraded my shields, removed my sidearm completely, and had to use two CPU extenders. Was worth it though, that thing is beast with the 10% mod.
Going to be a long while before I can upgrade to another suit, as the next suit requires level IV, and just to upgrade from level II takes like 600k SP. I could do one more upgrade with my current SP, but getting to level IV is going to be impossible before the reset. |

They'd better add more skills to sink SP in, I'm only an average player at best (KDR hovering at 1.11) and I've already maxed the Weaponry and Sniper Rifle damage skills. I'm only playing a couple of hours a day, too, although admittedly that's around 7-9 pm EST so I get the maximum SP boost. |

Wait, if you play during a specific time of day you get a SP boost? I always see the "potential boost" at the end of a match, but I figured that was for the boosters. |

No Leukoplast. The diminishing returns system resets server-wide at 20:00 US Eastern Standard Time. What Ombra said doesn't precisely make sense, though, because even if you're playing at around 20:00 it doesn't change the fact that you're only playing once every 24 hours, which is the only thing that matters for avoiding diminishing returns. |

I worded things rather poorly, the Potential Boost does refer to the SP Boosters which you pay money for.
What I meant is that the multiplier for SP earned goes down every match until it's just normal. All things being equal, your first match of the day will always give you more SP than, say, your 10th match. This feature exists so that the unemployed and the shiftless who play all day won't get a gigantic SP advantage over those of us who have to spend entire hours away from the PS3. This SP countdown resets at midnight GMT which is 8 PM EST, which means that you will always get tons of SP during a play session if your first match is at 7 and your last match is at 9 since your SP multiplier will always be artificially high.
EDIT: Leither Yiltron, I thought that was how it worked. So you're saying even if I start playing at 7 and continue until 9 the countdown would still have started from the 7 pm start time despite going past the 8 pm reset? Does restarting the game do anything? Because I have to do that a bunch of times each session, too. |

Then I guess it would **** of a lot of COD style players if CCP implemented the same skill training over time method as they have in Eve. Personally, I would like to see that system in Dust. It would make the feel of dust more in line with Eve. |

Well, at one point i was awarded 1 mil SP and i managed to level up a bunch of junk thus making me that much more evil on the battlefield.
I think that, while it hurts to say, it should be harder to level up certain things. Ex. SMG should be easier than AR ^and yet they are the same Vehicle should be really tough, but its not Seperate skill class for pilots and so on more skills, haha |

If I understand the full release correctly, by the time open Beta is over with, even the most casual crappy player will have accumulated enough SP for at least one specced proto kit. Folks with time/ dedication/ skill will have multiples. Also if I understand the diminishing returns mechanic, you could play for an hour before DT then an hour after to maximize gains for the shortest block of real time played as the diminishing gains reset at DT. |
