Normally you need a line of sight on a target to take it out with swarms. Well, why not add in a target painter, and a new model or swarms allowed to go with them. One person has to keep the painter on a target, while multiple volleys of swarms can be launched from behind cover, but are useless without it.
The could also be tied in with jet fighters and attack gunships when they are added.
I played a mod on crysis called mechwarrior living legends as a bomber pilot, and this was super effective against armor. One person would put a painter on a mech and then I would begin a nose drive and drop missiles right into someone, instantly killing them. |

i think he meant how would player a line of sight laser work with player b in the air when they have diferent stuff or watnot...im trying to say there would have to be some kind of a sync with the 2 people..maybe a orbital strike or something would be more effective.instead of the map view of the orbital strike |

I would think a module maybe a command module that puts a simi permenant lock onto a target if a regular guy use it it lets him fire 2 or 3 shots before the lock is broke agian, if a command suit equips this mosule then he shares it with ever one on his squad or in his vicinty. Unlike the regular lock dropships should get a warning for this one. |

I'm kinda confused about what you are asking, but the rockets would follow whatever the laser is pointed at. |

Sounds more like a sidearm device - like current laser targeting systems. What about a specialised warhead that coats the target with a traceable nano infused gel? |

I don't mind the targeting mechanic of the swarm I just don't like the super long flight time of swarm missiles. But Target Painters, should exist. Ultimately, i think it would be better if they upgraded damage to its target. as well as dramatically raising the targets Signature Profile.
So if I paint you i think everyone on my team, or at very least squad should get to see you very bright in the map. you can also make this go further, could make it required a player has a target painted with EWAR for "X" amount of time, to bring player orbitals down. So snipers i ask ya'... Ya' want a new toy?

Sorry mate didn't see that before I posted. But another thought I had. Could also make painters a requirement for indirect fire from an artillery installation. Sure it wouldn't be fair for rails or blasters but the race that uses target painters the most is Minmatar. And Minmatar use old school WWII Artillery. I could see Caldari interest in the weapon, for better missile guidance. |
