Reading and listening to the chatter from some EVE corps and players saying that console Dust players can't organize and have a political structure has really urked me. CCP, please create tools that organized Dust corps can build/purchase so we can spank them properly. I, for one, would like to see the ability for an organized Dust corp to pool it's resources and build a planet based intersteller death ray, much like the one on the Death Star, able to destroy planets, let alone spaceships.
Other competing Dust corps could try to overtake the death ray so there will always be constant warfare over it. New Eden could be littered with these and owned by the winning Dust corps.
BTW, I'm not an EVE player so I might be totally overlooking some things. But, I just don't care for some of the EVE voices saying that console players are a subspecies of the gaming universe, unable to band together and have a political structure.
Give us the tools to affect New Eden and a political structure will surely arise out of the console playing Dust corps. |

Yes to Dust Corp owned structure (on the surface and in orbit), similar to the sov control tower in EVE NullSec, not affecting a whole system, but only the planet. No to a deathstar, though. Attacking planets in a different solar system doesn't make sense, neither from a gamplay perspective, nor from a realism standpoint. Aiming on a planet in another solar system is simply not feasible...you can't even detect them reliably...
It is confirmed that we can build and own weapons to attack ships in orbit. |

This is a terrible idea but I guess your heart is in the right place. Sure, Dust should help. They've talked about Dust affecting sov, of Dust industry providing materials EVE players can't get elsewhere, etc. Those are good ideas. Lasers that blow up planets is a bad idea, but hey, A for effort, sport. |

There're only so many planets, and blowing them up would hurt both games. I get where you're coming from, and I've consistently been on the side of arguing how those stereotypes are ********, but I think a Death Star is going a little overboard. |

FYI, there already is something like what you suggest in EvE, yet not THAT powerful.
Titan class ships (up to 18km long behemoths) can mount so called "doomsday devices", which (in case of the amarr) are deathrays inflicting massive damage to one target. Enough damage to destroy a smaller capital ship (still worth a few billions) in a single shot. However, using them put's the titan at risk, making it unable to withdraw from combat for a while (unable to move at all IIRC) and it can only fire once every few minutes.
Those are pretty much the most desctructive weapons in New Eden (except for terran or jovian weapons, which only exist in lore and not in game).
I guess, the biggest badass orbital cannons DUST players will have access to will deal about that amount of damage.
No weapons known to the four Empires can destroy planets though and a well fitted Titan or Supercarrier class ship can withstand dozens of DD shots before it eventually gets destroyed.
Don't worry though, you will probably be able to blow more ISK up than you could ever spend on DUST equipment. The big dark green ship that gets blown up in the DUST trailer is called a Moros. That's a Gallente Dreadnought. A very basic Moros is worth over 2 billion ISK and sky is the limmit.
Finally, if you think it's DUST vs EvE, you got something wrong. The aim of the game(s) is to collaborate to conquer New Eden. No longer on a system by system base, but planet by planet. You will be very happy to have EvE friends in stealth bombers (or else) to take out your ennemy's orbital bombardment ship. And they will be very happy having you as a friend, defending their planets from invasion. |

If you can't get the entirety of the marine corp to never say a bad thing about the air force or navy i doubt you can't make this game "symbiosis" not awkward.
"boss don't bomb them from orbit!" "those dusty sluggers should have taken this planet hours ago i'm ending this the easy way." "yeah anyway it's just a couple millions isk and some cheap clones"
on planet side. "damn those arrogant bastard in their flying overpriced toys. Why don't they gives us a little back up!" "Yeah i'd like to see one of those pink bastard down there with a rifle showing us how it's "done"!"
I think it s part of what make the charm of this game. |
