Here (IGN) and here (source vid)
Sony Computer Entertainment AmericaGÇÖs President and CEO Jack Tretton said DUST is coming in October... pretty sweet.
However, that brings me to the upcoming player wipe. We all know there will be a player wipe when DUST moves to TQ presumably at the end of the month. My question is, if this move to TQ is coinciding with the SCEA CEO's understanding that the game is coming out in October, does that mean this wipe is the last player wipe? We've heard statements from CCP both that this is the last wip (and the game"as a service" begins once we are on TQ, and also that there will be a need for additional testing and that there will be another wipe once the game "Officially" launches.
So which is it?
CCP - is the player wipe coinciding with DUST's move to TQ the last player wipe or not? |

I believe the phrasing was last player wipe. And that would mean they could still do a skill wipe. |

1 million ISK says that Mr CEO got it wrong, and it's the new built that's coming out in October, or maybe that's when the beta will open up, maybe even both.
Either way Dust is not launching properly in October (barring some super-human, coding faster than a speeding bullet efforts by CCP)
Which to answer your question means that we have 2 wipes left, one for the move to TQ, one for the full launch.
EDIT: I suppose it is always possible that Sony has basically ordered CCP to release Dust prematurely, but that seems dumb even for them. |

I never actually heard him say "releasing next month" or "October"
What I heard was a description of the beta process, Merc Pack, and an announcement of an IGN only beta event.
It would be nice, but, I don't see anything happening that fast. |

I love dust but I hope this is an error or they mean October 2013, cause its no where near ready to be released, theres so much stuff left to test out. |

I concur, CCP is being conspicuously quiet about the whole thing. I think the CEO had it wrong but it would be impolitic for CCP to publicly announce that what he said is a complete load so they're just doing the whole "neither confirm nor deny" strategy. They're probably freaking out behind closed doors about the October announcement and I think they're hoping if they keep their traps shut that everyone will eventually forget about it.

I guess you're right. Considering that CCP needs Sony to help promote Dust 514, it would be a bad move to call Jack Trenton out on his statement on their part. But still, a little explanation wouldn't hurt. |
