Started out as a doodle in class, but I thought it could make a nice melee weapon for dust. Here is the pic: http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx12/KAGEHOSHI-/minmatarheatcutter001_zps9ded6a33.jpg Would do less damage, but have greater range, and do continuous fire damage. Since the Caldari nova knife will no longer be built in, and soon become a sidearm that you have to equip, this opens the gate for more melee sidearms. This is pretty much the Minmatar racial variant of the nova knife.
Posted here as well (weapon suggestion thread). |

I like your idea, so allow me to bounce another off of it-
The appearance reminds me of repair tools (also minmatar). Perhaps there could be a type of repair tool that switches to the plasma cutter when you target an enemy? |

That would be cool if prototype repair tools could harm enemies. |

Make it less effective than the Nova Knife at hand-to-hand, but highly effective against installations and vehicles. Effectively an AV hand-to-hand weapon. Although for obvious reasons it wouldn't be very practical to use on vehicles. The bonus would be primarily for installations.
Now, if you're within striking distance of an installation or stationary vehicle, why destroy it instead of capture it? Good point. To be honest, I'm thinking more in the future about applications where you might want to destroy a stationary piece of equipment, knock down a door, or other environmental applications.
One example: Disassembling defensive emplacements that are keeping your vehicles from moving into a location. If you have a counter-measure to destroy the emplacements (a logi with a destructive tool), you can make them highly resistant to turret fire (as they would likely be if they were intended to repel vehicles). |

A big ol +1
Reppers that can be turned up or to the reverse to damage and destroy I fully support. |
