It's to give you some idea of how much SP you're going to need per level for the entire skill "tree". A higher number, say 8x, means you will be using a lot more SP to unlock each level relative to how much SP you'd need for, say, a 3x skill. |

x1 skill takes whatever so points to get to lvl 5
x10 takes x10 more points total to get to lvl 5
x16 is by far the worst existing right now but luckily dust bunnies dont have such skill yet. |

To add to what others have said, the base cost of a level 1 skill (with a 1x multiplier, obviously) is 10240 SP right now. With a 2x multiplier it would be 20480SP to get a skill to level 1, a 3x 30720 SP, and so on (multiply base SP times the multiplier).
I'm pretty sure to get the skill to the next level its 2x the SP cost of the previous level (to get a 1x skill from level 1 to level 2 would be 20480, for example. For a level 2 it would be 40960 SP, and so on) Not sure if it is though, I'd have to check (Only know the lv1 SP amount right now, and remember that to get from lv4 to lv5 with the dropsuits it is about double the previous SP cost) |

Previously answered this question in another thread.
Longshot Ravenwood wrote:Each skill uses the same base Skill Point Formula: first lvl 10240 (total invested 10240 SP) second lvl 30720 (total invested 40960 SP) third lvl 71680 (total invested 112640 SP) fourth lvl 143360 (total invested 256000 SP) fifth lvl 256000 (total invested 512000 SP)
The x is how many times base each level of the skill costs.
An x2 skill uses 20280 sp to start & would cost a total of 1024000 to max. x3 starts with 30720 etc... Its part of the balancing system for skill levels & proficiency.
Now that the skill rewards are turned so far down that we can get a real feel for gain in combat vs passive gain the skill system feels much more balanced than in previous builds. |
