So I realize that Dusters are going to be unable to mine the vast majority of minerals since they are located in asteroid fields (which we cannot get at) but I would still like to be able to manufacture items. I see no realistic reason why I shouldn't be able to manufacture my own dropsuits, weapons, modules, or even smaller, spaceships which are capable of landing on planets (think shuttles). I think this would add a nice non FPS element to the DUST universe where we could have a significant impact on the EVE economy. |

The only thing we should be able to do is mod our weapons because I am pretty sure we wont know how to make guns or spaceships or modules anyways we affect the economy by accepting contracts getting ISK from the contracts and buying more stuff |

I would love to see this. And also to expand on this consept to include all kinds of things.
But one issue araising from manufacturing would be of how to arorage these assets and transport them to other places.
Would it be 'magic faeries' that instantly transport these assets across the galaxy no matter what? Or would it be transported by EVE players or prehaps in-case of hisec by a NPC courier service?
My personal opinion is that DUST players should contract a EVE player to transport either completed assets or materials for these assets to be assebled on destination. This way it would create a booming transport sector in EVE side. But obvious drawback would be that DUST players would be more taxed to think logistics of a battle. How to get needed assets on to battlefield. But as I said, this is how I would like it to be implemented. |

I agree on the point of manufacturing spaceships and their modules, but completely disagree about confinig ourself to a pigeonhole of a instanced FPS that doesent offer anything else that hasn't already been done in a dozens of games.
And as I have said before somewhere in these forums, I wan't more just customization of ones weapons. That isn't enough.
Let's dare to be bold and think outside of the box of a standard FPS gameplay. |

+1 for manufacturing and other industrial/management/research skills for dust players. Would love to not only be busy fpsing in later stages of the game. |

This is exactly what I was thinking. In order to transport our goods for sale we would have to contract EVE players. EVE already has a mechanism for this and though it is fraught with danger people do use it. DUST players would not have to reinvent the wheel inorder to use EVE's contract system.
Using the contract system would also open DUST players up to the potiential for greater collusion with EVE players to act as frauds or pirates. Imagine you put out a contract for transporting goods with a fairly high bit of colatteral then collude with an EVE player to rob the player transporting your goods. Not only would said villians get the original items but also the collateral put down by the EVE transporter.
Remember, more oportunities for piracy and misdeeds raises player interest and overall immersion. |

I don't like the idea of adding manufacturing to Dust since this is supposed to be a shooter. So concentrate on shooting!
However, I like the idea of piracy. Like raiding convoys or stations and stealing those supplies from Eve players. Maybe even go as far as being able to board Eve Ships and take it over. Assuming of course we have an Eve pilot tagging along in the mission to pilot the ship.
So,
-1 for Manufacture (Keep it in Eve) +1 for Piracy / Boarding |

+1 to manufacturing, even if we have to contract EVE players to do the lifting for us. Actually the more I think about that the better it sounds, something for everyone. |

It's already been promised by CCP. Just probably won't see its implementation begin until next year when null sec is in. |

i was under the impression that all our weapons, armor and mods where going to be mass produced by eve players

this its dust; we kill people and take (or protect) their / our land. if your want to micro manage resources then play EVE. |

Unfortunately any and all succes in battlefields should partly be attributed to succesful logistics and supply chain management. If one side doesen't have munitions and assets to fight then though luck. This also brings interesting ways to counter better equipped forces by attacking their supply lines with precision strikes or guerilla taktics. |

Exactly.
As long as it won't go as far as those pesky free-form contracts, that EVE had back in the day. But then again CCP has said that they are developing new/improved contract system for EVE, so I would imagine EVE/DUST contracts are from same mold. |
