I have thought about this a few times because I buy allot of games digitally, whats going to happen when PSN goes down? I don't know if it will any time soon but at some point it will be gone, so apart from games that will be gone forever unless you back it all up, how about DUST514. I know it runs on its own server but you still need to sign in to the psn network.....I'm scared now. |

Why the hell do you think PSN will go down? PSN won't go down for a long ass time. Dust is also going to be active on both PS3 and PS4 at some point. |

Not saying it WILL go down sorry but you never know. PS4 will be going the way of Gaikai live streaming at some point and psn will maybe get fazed out just like ps2 online. I guess if that did happen a PC port would come into play, or ps4 but I dont really want to think about the price of that yet |

What if the sun stops burning? I think you are thinking far into the future. PSN will be around for ps4. |

Let's just say that as long as Sony have the PlayStation brand there will be the PSN store and PSN. Now what happens if the PlayStation brand dies? Well, yeah. You'll lose everything you bought for the PlayStation.
But same goes for "What happens to my furniture?" if you are no longer able to live in a house. It's just irrelevant. |

will need a extra pair of undies , but even if it is a long way away, I still have master system games in the cupboard. Putting my psn downloads in a box will be harder.

that would suck but I'm concerned for DUST because its a game more for the future, would be nice if ccp didnt need the psn log in at all but I have no idea how that works so...

There was actually a sony press release recently that the ps3 would be supported well into 2015 at the least, I think were all right. |

There's a serious point here amongst the flippant responses....
PSN going down means no access to DUST....
This includes PSN maintenance periods (check each one, sometimes you can still play online if you've stayed logged in)
Those of us long term Playstation gamers will remember a certain incident a couple years ago that left us without online gaming for a number of months, with all related servers taken offline also...... You'd be foolish to assume/claim this'll never happen again so i'd say this....
Make sure you have games installed on your PS3 as an alternative to dust. PSN is a free service (i agree with the above tho,, the intention by Sony is to keep PSN across all products including PS4 and probably further than that),,, so is subject to interruptions without compensation (unless you have ps+ which they deal with seperately) ...
It's unlikely to happen, but it could |

In the other hand, I don't see this happen.
