Eh, he's a good singer and I'm glad that he finally got his name out there with this international hit single, but there is an abundance of songs that are just as good and arguably better.
Although to be honest I'm not a huge fan of Korean pop music (or any pop music really), generally speaking it's at least something to listen to and sometimes really catchy and cute, but at worst it's derivative, borrowing entire segments of music and choruses from other artists. In such cases I wager it's often an homage of sorts, and in a way admirable (being derivative is often considered very negative in the music industry), but even then I question that the derived artists in question are known in Korea for it to be appreciated and if it isn't an intellectual form of exploitation then. But then again as more and more information is retained in a society it's harder and harder to appear unique and original so why not...plus owning a series of sounds is kind of silly in a way, but whatever it's a complicated topic with me.
I don't even want to think about the dancing and outfits............it's all just so.......bad.......
I also appreciate the rapid expansion of Korean media into North America surrounding the KORUS FTA.
Anyway, in terms of South East Asian music artists, I'd like to take this chance to plug Higedriver because I rove teh chiptunes and I want my number 1 oppai to be successful too v/////v
