I've been reading a lot on the forum and trying to put everything together into as concise a blurb as possible. I think this might be helpful for those wondering where the game is going and to show possible concerns some testers are expressing. Personally I think this could become an amazing game and it is already a long way towards getting there.
The way I see the beta right now: Right now we have the core FPS mechanics (which are still not bug free). Small matches with random players and the ability to make and select dropsuits and vehicles. And the basic market layout.
The game is rumored to be released around December (but not confirmed so maybe later)?
So within that time the game needs to be moved from a currently small, isolated test server to the main EVE test server (connecting both games and adding space for more players) and add/test the rest of the game features.
The game features not currently implemented that I have heard of and seem to be needed in order to make the game ready for launch are: -Connect Dust 514 to EVE Online and allow player/trade/combat interactions -Include Corp management and Corp vs. Corp warfare -Include district management and control (that interacts with Dust and EVE gameplay) -Add more items/skills to market and make sure everything is balanced. -Implement player run market trade. -Implement low and high sec gameplay for casual and hardcore players. -Make planetary/district control gameplay work. (I'm sure there are more features but this seems like a good list of what the game promises to be)
To even the most optimistic beta testers and Dust fans out there it should be clear that the beta build we are testing includes only a small fraction of what CCP has been telling us Dust 514 will be. It is easy to see why some beta testers are showing concern over the state of the game. Not only does CCP need to produce those features, but they need to give us enough time to test them so that they work right!
So do people think this is an accurate representation of the situation? Do you think the release date will be later than December? Am I missing any critical features or can we cut any from my list and still make Dust 514 work as promised? |

I think it's safe to say that we do have the core mechanics, wether they're any good is a different matter entirely. |

To be fair CCP said the new build, set to hit any day now after TGS is over before the end of the month, has completely reworked hit detection and turning speeds.
also rumors that jumping is different and aiming down the sights has been retooled.
It's fair to say the core gameplay is in fact not quite in this build |

Yeah I read that too. I hope it works out. It just seemed unlikely to me that aforementioned things would get revamped this far down the line but I'm not a developer so what do I know. |

In a lot of ways we're just getting started on testing. So much still to come |

Moon racer,
For as concise and broadly focused as your synopsis is, I believe it is pretty darn accurate |
