Hey, I was just browsing the web, and just found a demo and a trailer from 2009! You can watch and see how it changed:

Well i would like to see that the grenade launcher makes a return. Also the AR design appeals more to me then what we have at the moment. |

I don't like the idea of the under slung grenade launcher. It looks cool, but it'd make Thukkers look like water bombs.
I love the old LAV and Dopship designs though, they look awesome. I really hope we see these in game in some form as they looked epic.
The AR sight was a tonne better in these vids too. I hope it's interchangeable. |

Let me give you some insight on this as far as the trailer goes.
CCP ******* loves their gameplay trailers. They do one or 2 for pretty much every single expansion they come out with for Eve. They are flashy, show action packed gameplay, and all these awesome effects, making their game look awesomely polished, be very immersive and have extremely fluid gameplay.
Nothing could be further from the truth from gameplay in Eve, or as can be seen, in Dust 514 now. It's a sham. They do this because if they showed actual gameplay in either of their games, it would be likely that no one would touch it since, obviously, showing some guy ship spinning in a station starting market orders or flying through a mission just targeting and shooting, targeting and shooting over and over again isn't exactly an enthralling video. The same is true with the current state of Dust's gameplay, where you could say even Fallout 3's shooter mechanics and fluidity of combat far outpace Dust's, even though it's mainly an RPG.
I had high hopes for Dust. I've tried playing the beta for a while now, and I've come to a conclusion. It's just the latest in CCP's lackluster games/expansions that don't play anything like they're advertised. |
