KDR should actually represent (I think this true of the real players):
Kill to DEBT Ratio...
Especially as a beta tester. Sometimes I fly into battle without a care cause I'm PO'd at some dude for blasting me in the face twice and I just gotta try to get that sucker. Or sometimes, I'm coolheaded and stay back and find a good sniper nest. But generally, I don't care about kills (sure sometimes it's a rush to get a great kill streak blah...) -- What I really track in my own head is deaths. No one wants to die [QFT] but, in this game deaths is not just death; duh, we're clones. Death means so much MORE! Death means money. Cold Hard Cash! When I die, I lose some avg. amount of ISK/AUR that always makes me unhappy.
So, I'm lobbying to change Kill to Death Ration to actually be the more accurate measure of Kill to DEBT/LOSS Ratio so I can track, on avg. how much I'm losing per kill vs. how many times I'm dying. KDR, as it stands is neat but not valuable. I feel Kill to Debt would actually paint a great picture of self-value.
Oh yeah, if you do not finish a match, you are still rated against what you did in the match, but it is inversely diminished for drop outs...so even if you drop due to error, you don't get totally hosed and you can't chicken-quit to boost KDR, cause it won't boost well, but the occasional drop due to lock etc doesn't totally f you either; you get what you earned while you could. It doesn't really mean anything other than your own value ranking (aka how much am I worth to a contract bargainer when it comes time to put boots on the ground in New Eden TQ)

First anyone whom gives a damn, doesn't care about KDR. They care about your combat effectiveness. Can you keep a dropship alive for the whole match? You're a logi, can you rep our boys? Ohh that heavy has hit several tanks with a forge gun. Didn't get the last hit, or the crew bailed out before it went BOOM!
Supposedly we are going to get a leader board not based off of kills. The guy on the ground is getting warpoints for his drop uplink but the guy in the sky is not.
How is the new leader board going to work? I don't know... But I do know the guys I fight side by side with will notice who tries, succeeds, or fails. What's truly important is, do you communicate. If you can identify a threat and call it out to assist your team, that is priceless. and no kill board can reflect that. |

No offense dude, I get all that. The post is mostly satire. but if you think about it. If they are going to allow the measure, it really should be all about economics. That is what makes the New Eden go 'round!
But I like your thoughts man - I lose just as many kills as the next guy, but I don't care. I just want to see the enemy in front of me go down -- my bullet or not. I just want to live to try and kill another red. It's all good!
