So I have been thinking. WHY is our armor so F***ing shiny. In the Army, shiny things were called "bullet magnets."
I don't get this CCP. The shiny stuff may be all good if you are on the parade field, but in the thick of it, IT IS NO GOOD.
Can we have some alternate, BPO styled, paint schemes for our dropsuits (i.e., buy it once for like 1500-2500 ISK/ 15-20 AUR)? Or at the very least make the basic colors in a matte finish. I get it with some of the AUR fits that people may want the bling factor in there, but all of the time, NO THANKS.
Personally I would love to see it as an option on the fitting menu where you were able to assign purchased (having them in both ISK and AUR versions would be the ONLY way to go) paint schemes to particular fittings, and that you would be able to change them. You do have the single box at the top of the fitting screen, why not use it to have a paint scheme swath that can be changed out or edited. Maybe even this could be used to instigate some player made camo styles in a contest of sorts.
Now, in EVE, I get why this isn't an issue, and why no one has thought of it since camouflage is not a necessity. But on the ground, camp is a must. Ask anyone who has served time n the field. It is a game changer and a life saver. Hell I would like it too, just for the fact that corps could have assigned colors and schemes, that way when you see the glow of the suits, you know who you are fighting in faction battles and the such.
Here is to hoping some kind of CAMO in future builds. |

I see no one is caring about the tactical side of camo.
That is shameful. Must not have done anytime in the field.

I don't think anyone doesn't care. It's just, in a game where you can see in your minimap every single person that everyone else sees, and combined with the red chevrons that function the exact same way, real camo becomes rather... redundant.
I'm not against having camo options though. I wouldn't mind some tiger stripes on my golden suit either. |

I like custom paintjobs as a bpo AUR item. However you're nuts to think it should be ISK item, in Free 2 Play games purely aesthetic things are always real money and should be here. Now if a player wants to buy it for AUR and sell it to you for ISK that's another matter entirely. |

Did a lot in my younger days, my favourite was living in a hole for 2 weeks a time in the cold wet winter.

Maybe once electronic warfare (ewar) starts playing a role this will matter.
Imagine, launching a grenade or constructing an installation (or for vehicles, activating a module) that affects the function of nearby enemies mini-maps and chevrons. Imagine if you could make their mini-map and chevrons...turn off. Or...reverse? With the fact that friendly fire will be on, there's some room for tactical importance there. |

WOW, it took a sarcastic comment to get the discussion going. Sweet! I'll keep that in mind for next time.
As for the importance, or potentiality of it, I wonder when Ewar is implemented that it will become an item.
@ Patches : Just because that was the way in previous games, doesn't mean that is the way it should be. As for calling me CRAZY to think such a thing, well that should be the least of your worries. I think that there should be some aesthetic options available on both currency fronts, what is the problem with that??? |

I'd like to see some dropsuit finish options based on both the US Army's Multicam and the USMC's MARPAT camouflage. I'm sure there's plenty of other nice camo schemes out there that would also make good options. Again, not for a functional purpose, but just because it would look badkitten. Unless of course there's a way to pry the big red kitten "kill me" sign off my skull, then the camo might have some tiny amount of practical application. I agree with the OP about making these different finishes "paint jobs" that are purchasable Aur BPOs. They could then be applied to any suit as opposed to just creating crappy militia variants. I realize this is an old thread, but I figured I'd just comment here rather than starting a new topic on a matter that is somewhat frivolous (relative to lag and boost kittens anyway). |

I dunno why you people b*tch so much about having camo be not an ISK purchasable item, if I remember correctly in games that already have camo built into them, let you purchase it with in game experience or in game currency, y'all just want it as ISK cause you want to be one of "elite type people and feel special". :U
Making certain camos AUR purchasable and basic camos like ISK purchasable would be fair for everyone, making it AUR only causes issues, such as dare I mention half of the AUR guns and equipment/ suits out there, CCP wouldnt lose money if they gave some of the ISK players ISK buyable camo, infact they would make more money by releasing limited edition camos/ skins/ whatnot :U for AUR purchasable things only.
But giving us players who actually earn our things without using mommys credit card, would be fair and there shouldnt be such a big issue over it :U |

Don't really care if it's bought with AUR, ISK, or beaver pelts. Not really the point of this thread. Are you just desperate to be outraged about something? This forum's full of silly c u n t s. |

I'd love to see some good camouflage schemes for armors. Hopefully when they finally add a sensible customization system and dispense with the AUR-bought dropsuits whose main selling point, if not only selling point, is their appearance we'll get some good camouflage patterns to choose from. |

It's ironic that CCP regularly seem to be reskinning the ships in EVE to have camo textures... in space, where that sort of thing is really useful...(!) |

I think the idea of customizable camo(to an extent-no hot pink or neon colors) would be awesome. It would really add a sense of identity to an indiviual merc. Maybe accents to the base suits when you get a certain Life Time Skill Point Cap and so on as you gather more and more skill points.
Tabors or corp camo- is another great idea. I imagine a battlefield littered with mercs adorning their corporations colors. Pretty awesome. |
