I see where you are going with this, miahus. The standard 'scout suit with kinetic module and a shotgun' routine is getting a little out of hand. Cut out shotgun and paste in either mass driver or swarm launcher. A shotgun is a close range weapon. Anyone that gets in close enough to use a shotgun effectively shouldn't really be able to do so without any real armor.No close combat fighter would ever go into battle without armor, i don't care how fast he is. The fact that the scouts tend to not register hits by either crazy speed, lag issues, or more often poor hit detection is circumventing the fact that without those they would be dead. Quickly. It's hard to fault the speed though because it is a legitimate way to avoid getting shot. The other two, should be remedied next build. When they are, i think their speed will be less effective. At least i hope.
Either make a class tweak to the guns, or make a change to the scout to discourage using it as an assault suit with these weapons. Every shotgunner will come on here and argue their point but the reality is the scout suit was designed for....scouting. Not for frontline assault like it is being used for. There's a problem there. I don't know the fix so i won't bother making one up. A medium class would work, but get ready for the uproar from the users of these setups. |

I think it's more the merc pack and hit detection issues leading to our current glut of scouts. They go down fast when the bullets actually connect and have pretty limited CPU/PG capacity compared to Assault guys.
Limiting the weapons at this stage will just shift the complaints over to snipers and SMGs. |

I disagree...to use my shotgun, I have to get close, and to get close, I have to be fast. I tried an Assault Suit with a Shotgun, but it is just not effective.
And if I tried to fight a HMG heavy with a shotgun, I am toast with an Assault suit. With a Scout Suit, I can circle him faster than he can turn and avoid his HMG. |

Once hit detection is fixed and scout strafing speed is lowered in the next build there shouldn't be any real need for something like this. It's good to give people options. Obviously right now the option of being a scout and strafing rapidly in someone's face with a shotgun is a bit much. But, inshallah, the next build will curtail that. So I'd say wait out, see what happens in the coming weeks, and go from there.
But, obviously making a new class of weapon would be quite a complicated answer to this issue regardless. Probably something more elegant that could be done, right? |
