We have had the Merc Pack, and I am now wondering what else will be available for purchase later on down the road. This is not talking about buying Aurum for items, but things like the Merc pack with exclusive items. |

im guessing aurum skill books will be put in as their form of DLCs because that would be a lot more worth my money |

Skill Spikes...I think that's what they were called. You pay money, you get skills instantly...at least for a time period. |

They won't be giving anything that gives an advantage over other stuff and that can only be achievable by purchase.. so if you do get any items, they will be like the dragonfly or toxin gun.. nice exclusive item but really only on par with the tier 1 basics. DLC updates will always be free I am sure with this game, it just is not ccp style ( though lately with thier new big bro sony, things could change in that dept.) Most of what will pay for this game is Eve online itself, and most aurum pack sales off the ps network will result in %s going to sony, so that we can enjoy it on thier platform. CCP has stated that they do not want this to be a pay to win game and don't really care how much aurum they can sell each month on dust ( well not those exact words, but about sums it up)
hrmm, well that 30 day skill booster was pretty sweet actually... most you can purchase in game right now is only a 1 week and it costs alot more :\ |

Eventually you can expect cosmetic stuff like skins or model variants for weapons and armor and vehicles which will be AUR-only. Cosmetic items are big sellers for free-to-play games that opt not to be "pay to win". I'm guessing the AUR dropsuits currently are just a crude placeholder until a more worthwhile customization system rolls around, where you simply buy skins for particular dropsuits. |

yep, that we will see plenty of. The options will be there for people not paying $s to still get them aswell once they implement a way for us to sell aurum on market to eachother for iskies |

I should note that my previous post was in error - the "instant skill" items are "Skill Spikes". |

I thought a skill spike temporarily increases your skills in a certain area but not actually making you learn them?

I was surprised to even see Aur bought skill boosters. CCP has been foot stomping adamant that this will not be a P2W game, so I'd guess the paid content would be limited to aesthetic gear and usable gear equivalent to what Eve players know as Faction gear. Low skill requirements to use, but rarely more powerful than the same gear type that a skilled player can have.
I guess that makes it Pay to Catch Up.
I'm still curious where all the funding for this will come from. Maybe Eve has been doing well enough to absorb the cost of all the high-end servers and development costs to make this happen, but it is still an investment. Sony is going to want a piece of the action too. A painstakingly detailed game doesn't come out of thin air. Eh, I would have paid a sub if its all it looks to become. (And probably PLEX it anyway from Eve funds.) I'm sure CCP and Sony have a plan. Maybe it will come in paid upgrades, curious to see. |

CCP generates roughly 60-70 mil euro a year off eve now |
