First of all let me say that I played Eve for a while back and thought it was a pretty interesting concept. Armor vs. Sheild tanking etc., so I kind of understand where you guys are going with this game and it is a pretty cool idea. I am finding this game to be BRUTAL to a newcomer though and it is only in beta which is kind of scary. I feel outgunned and out-armored by most of the other players and I am having a hard time coming up with enough SP's to get anywhere fast. Maybe this is just because most of the people have been in the beta for a while and when there is a full release there will be more Noobs like me to match up so the fights are a little more balanced.
So now onto the real reason of this post which is the mechanics. First of all I am posting this because I am currently waiting for my PS3 to perform another diskcheck after a game freeze. The game has been freezing on me probably about every other match. Sometimes my PS3 will power down safely and other times I have to manually hold the power button hence the disk check. It's really frustrating! I doubt I'm alone because I have a newer model PS3 and never have had any problems in any other games.
Last and most importantly, I am not really impressed by the game controls...at all. I think the missing factor has to do with cursor acceleration. I feel so mechanical when playing this game. I'm used to it when manning turrets etc and that kind of motion seems appropriate for those situations, but my whole character feels like fast moving turret. The controls just feel way too mechanical. There is no evident acceleration to sort the twitches from the hard manuvers and I do not get any sense of inertia when moving the cursor quickly. Even with the sensativity turned back it seems like there is only a very tiny area of usefulness within the joysticks movement range. In addition to this, turning aroound is just way too SLOW. Even in scout armor it feel like it takes ages to turn around and I find that I am usually dead before i even get a glimpse of what was shooting at me back there. This makes me want to add one more suggestion which is to allow camera panning after death so at least you can look and see what happened. Just my thoughs so far. Take them or leave them. |

I would suggest to format your post. It's sorta hard to read that wall of text. |

Right now there is only one pool we are all playing in. You got small fish which just started and also the big sharks having fun to swallow ten big fishies at once. But compared to other games this one is even more about Knowledge and Patience.
You need to know your enemies and their equipment. You need to know the limitations of your gear and the advantages it brings. Things like militia gear might feel BAD in the beginning, but it is free and when you know when to run and where to stick to you team, you will soon learn that no high skill or proto gear can make the decision. It's all up to your approach on those. May it be a guy in a proto assault suit that might take more hits with a sniper, but he will still fall to remote explosives, grenades or a third hit with your militia sniper. And after you have done this you have to realize that you might have fielded 50k isk and died five times but he has fielded 250k and died once. In the end you have won end he has lost. And this is just a small battle in one game.
Bring support gear (like hives or uplinks) and learn to read the ebb and flow on the battlefield. Learn to read the minimap and come up in the back of your enemy. Learn where one weapon is strong and your opponent's one is weak. (Like SMGs being stronger in close quarters than Assault Rifles). there is a lot to learn ... and that's where Patience comes in. |

I don't mean to be "that guy", but when i saw this thread labeled "Day 2: Some feedback and suggestions" i laughed considering the first Dev thread in this section is titled "Please do not make list of feedback and suggestions. Just sayin'. :p |

Give it a week, harden up, and wipe away the tears. And if the KB/M isn't working for you, MAYBE a controller instead???? |

First impressions are helpful (and welcome to the beta!).
Yeah the current system is hard on new players. As stated, this is mostly due to it being beta and as I've read this part is mostly about testing the core functions so once actual matchmaking features are included this should be resolved.
And I agree, the software is very unstable at this point. I've only had it crash a couple times so far (but am also relatively new). The big problem for me is the network lag is so bad (game stutters frequently) that I feel I can't adequately test anything since that impacts how I perceive everything in the game works.
Personally I'm waiting for the new build (hopefully by the end of the month) to start experimenting again. It is supposed to change the game a LOT. |

So does the "sort by skill" mechanic only work on instant battle ? |
