People want to show their style... From armor, color, size, etc... Having the ability or weapons and characters sandboxed. Give that ability to the users.
People could outfit their guns, color, modifications could change the appearence of the gun(slightly)
People could outfit their Character, be slightly taller, fatter, skinnier, and a type of colors... Squads would like that as well, to be able to wear their colors and stuff.
Sandboxing of weapons and characters could do that... Allowing more refinement to character's customization, gives people their own `stylish approach in gameplay. Its fun too, allows people to stand out, if they like. |

Yea, but my post is different... I suggest a more aspect of Sandboxing.
Sandboxing weapons and customizations allow for a broader range of game elements.
For instance, a game that sandboxes guns -- Borderlands 1&2 ...
A game that sandboxes characters -- MOST RPGS, GTA(but only on AI) and you get a wide variety of customization options.
Not just a few colors but size and physical aspects. An all sandboxing is, a varied of textures applicable to weapons -- A character model with size-ratio aspects & different applicable texturing.

Customization is good. People should be able to pay AUR to change the skins/models of things. There's really nothing to be said but "it'd be cool". |

I wish this game DID follow the random loot type generator that Diablo and Boarderlands followed. It would give this game even longer life. Nothing like just "one more match" - hoping that, Godly Rainbow Icicle of Deaths Right Finger Assault Rifle to drop!
Also... Boarderlands failed really hard on how they simply had no armor customization/Character Customization.
I would LOVE the type of armor customization that most MMOs have in this game. The armor doesn't even have to have stats. Just make it so each character looks different. I wouldn't mind having a Legs, Torso, Helmet, Shoulders, and Arm type slots to make every character look different.
CRAP. I just wish ALL suits looked different. That would be fine... As of right now everyone runs the same. My scout looks just like your scout. Color Swaps don't count, damn it! |

I totally agree with you. I would love to have this option. I think it would also make more people want this game. Even if it is a simple as COD:MW3 with the simple gun camo and the grenade launcher or shotgun attachment |

My thoughts on this matter is that OP is referring to more customisation of ones items. It is not by my understanding a attempt ot create or meke this game more sandbox type of gameplay.
A sandbox is where ones choises and actions will affest others in a meaningfull and persistient way. Ability to custimize your own gameplay doesent allow that in any signifficant or meaningfull way.
What we need is is to break out of this instanced gameplay, instant matchmaking and dive into fully presistent universe, where we as a mercenarys would live. Not in warbarge to wait for next match to start, but in a on-planet base that we as players have made our selfs and when match presents it self we must find way to travel to that location.
This is no way critique to more customization, that is good, but that isn't nearly enough. We need more meaningful and persitant universe. |

I have NEVER heard a better idea then this. I hope CCP reads this and realize the genius behind it. |

so instead of having merc quarters on a war barge you want it on a planet and you want to customize it? and I'm afraid I don't follow the "we must find way to travel to that location" comment. what do you want us to do; take taxis? If you're asking me to hitchhike EVE ships from battle to battle I've got my towel, but that seems a little inconvenient. |

Why couldn't you have your own ship? on your own planet.
Lets give the power to the players.
There is no reason y there cant be this option after a certain level. |

@Azmode -- They do have a random loot generator, you just don't pick it up. I think it is govern by how much you do in game and how far you travel .... **I THINK**
You should be able to own yr own lil ship... People on eve will be able to help you destroy and own planets...
This essentially is the EVE universe, just in FPS mode. Dust is placing more strategy inside the eve universe.
Which we're are diddling off topic.
A sandbox is possible using Unreal engine, I hope they implement a more complex sandbox fr customization purposes.
Anyone would agree customization is fun and all the lil dweebs who want to all be in a UNIFORM posture, would want to have their squad look in that accustom way.
Another game that used a very interesting sandbox for characters, was one of the Teken games.. You could actually draw on the characters.
Sandboxing gives a more complexity to chracter creation. It not only is cool, but if designed complex-like it can evenly be easier on the game engine. GTA IV and Red dead redemption had an exceptional networking and they would sandbox majority of the game world. sandboxing is a post-processing technique...
If squads and people wanna have their own corp... Those people would want that unique-ness to stand out or be known fr their colors or what ever... sandboxing would do that.
But the best aspect of a sandbox character creation... There wont be billions of different skins / textures / character models to constantly download. It would all be collaborated& refind inside the sandbox game engine. |
