ccp will constantly make expansions, i believe its once every six months for EVE. I'm sure it will be similar for dust. |

Corps yes, planets no. Faction Warfare is first, that's taking planets for the faction you choose to fight for. Taking planets in null sec for your corp is later. |

The impression we are getting is that Dust mercs will fight battles on various temperate planets in lowsec space. Low sec is like the middle ground, the 'no mans land' in eve. It's also where the bulk of Faction Warfare takes place between the Caldari/Gallente & Amaar/Minmataar factions.
Recently, CCP said that fighting over, winning and controlling planetary districts in FW systems will make it more difficult for the opposing faction to control that space
There is a kind of sliding scale in each system that measures the controlling faction's influence for that space. The more districts on planets in that system you control the more difficult it is for your enemies to slide the scale their way
That is how I understood it
I also gather that eventually (maybe not at DUST release) corporations will be able to 'own' districts and planets and place infrastructure, industry, defenses and things like Space Elevators therein
