Although this is probably hardly an issue for anyone in here; as we are all likely going to be hardcore DUST players, seeing as we are into it enough to sign up for the beta, and then come to the forums to disscuss it etc.
There is a considerable time gap between games: after you finish a match, have to quit back to your quarters, wait for it to load, open up your neocom again and go into instant battle again (or press circle on the screen in front of you), if it finds an already full server you have to come back out and go back into neocom then instant battle again (or circle on the screen again). My worry is that this disruption to the flow of gameplay could really force some of more casual players away from the game over time (and the more casuals, the more easy kills for us, so its in our interest as well )
I know that this break is good for checking up on SP and skills, and checking out the market, for us professional DUST'ers but like ive said this is going to be more of an issue (albeit a relativity small one) for the casual DUST merc.
I don't know if there is a way to link game to game, with the way the games are/will be offered, each game is a separate contract offered by players/NPC's but my suggestion would be instead of returning to quarters after every game, just have another button that will search for the next game there and then, or at least after clicking instant battle if it finds a full server, make it so it auto-finds the next server.
If you want to go really deep and psychological, and why i think this should be addressed, it's that the casual gamer is going to be thinking 'Ok one more game', now once this game is over, he/she has to quit to the neocom (essentially the main menu) and now they are thinking 'Ok its time for me to come off this awsome addicting psycho madhouse of a game' (running out of adjectives ) (I know its hard to believe but trust me, there are some people who could acutally stop playing ). If my idea is implemented or somthing along those lines the casual DUST'er is now thinking (seeing the 'find next match' button at the bottom of the scoreboard after there 'supposed' last match) 'Oh all right then one more game cant hurt' (and so it begins ). Seriously though i just thought this could smooth out the matchmaking/game finding mechanics currently in place
(I know this is a relativly insignificant topic, and i'd rather have this put to the back of the pile instead of on top all the balancing issues etc. but thought i should bring it up rather than another 'X is to OP, make Y powerful thread, though it should probably be implemented before launch as that will be when all the casuals flood in) |

Just add an Instant Battle button to the match statistics screen. There already is a button to go back to the MQ, adding a Next Match functionality wouldn't hurt...and make it the default option. If you wait, you automatically get loaded into the next battle.
(I also really hate that unnecessary loading screen, just to access the glorified main menu the MQ currently is) |

all they need to do to bring along casuals is launch the game with arena battles
ARENA BATTLES -8v8 -Smaller maps / close quarters maps -Capture The Flag / King of The Hill / Team Death Match -Everyone uses Militia gear -Matchmaking & Customs
Just have it so people can easily log on and play arena battles whenever very easily, no need to worries about ISK or SP very much. Then as people begin to like the game and get into it and get more competitive, they can branch out into High Sec, then Low Sec and Null Sec.
