Hey guys, I am new to EVE and even newer to Dust. I finally went out and bought a ps3 to play Dust on and I get home and try to play and honestly, I have next to no clue what I am doing. I seem to not be able to kill anyone, no matter how much I shoot I just die instead, is there a large gap in newer Dust players? Or am I just bad?
There is next to no information in game, just half working mechanics (at least for me, sometimes the battle thing pops and other times it freezes the console entirely.) So i guess my main question is, how to get started in Dust 514? |

Edit: stick with it, Dust is the kind of game that will reward you in the long run. It has no "new player experience" yet, so it will be frustrating as hell though. |

There is an in-game tutorial, though tbh I haven't used it. And as far as a gap between new players and old, there's a character wipe coming soon, so we all get to start over again. |

The gap that really matters is one that won't get wiped; player skill. 10,000 hours on console FPS vs 10 hours. |

It is very frustrating in the beginning, the gunplay is not alike other shooters, just play and it will come naturally, and also Im giving you a like |

You do make a good point there. When the next wipe happens, there is a sliver of truth to what I say, but anyone relatively new won't have the knowledge of previous builds to back up their decisions. One thing I can tell anyone new is, don't spread your SP around, focus it in the one area of the role you want to play in. |

Read EVERYTHING first, game takes a bit of back and forth between menus.
Ask questions, you did good by heading to forums and not being scared to put up a new thread. People are willing and waiting to help just ask.
Squad up, when u hit select while in your merc quarters, create chat room lfsquad and u will find a group of people looking to squad up. Have a Mic.

I plan on playing. The whole reason I bought (another) ps3. Dust is one of the things that also got me into EVE. I know its in beta and that there are a lot of unfinished / trial projects going on in it and do not mind that.
But the main point is I get really ******* bored lol. I did not see any tutorial and have not had any of these menus mentioned above. I literally started out in the CQ (with multiple doors hehehe) and had to find everything on my own (which I do not mind) but I'll do a little more research and tighten up my skills a bit and get back.
That was another question, when do character wipes stop? |

Prea,
How cool is it that you are probably one of the first people to "get into Eve because of Dust".
Now, with that I mind, there are a couple of things you should know:
A lot of unfinished trials and projects-- check
Mostly, you are really bored-- check
Started out in a tiny locked room with fake doors -- check
Had to figure everything out on your own-- aaannnndcheck
Welcome aboard the CCP Express, Sir. Good to have you with us. You are, in fact, doing it right.
See you in Island! |

How can you even start a logi? I saw the assault rifle that jumps more than a rabbit, and the launcher (that does literally 0 damage to people or machines no matter how close you are to them) and a sniper rifle without a scope. I would run around and just repair people if I could, it might actually work.

How?
What "class" is it to begin with. That is my problem with Dust 514 so far. Its the only game I just can't figure out. I figured out EVE. But this game is ******* hopeless when it comes to actually having people try to play it instead of just being vaporware. Dust 514 was a much better game before I actually played it. Now I feel that EVE will die...because all our money was spent on this :[ And as of now, I don't see why anyone would even pay to play it,,,much less just for cosmetic affects. Thus forcing me on a suicidal rampage.

Also, why is it that as an Amarr character, if I were to want to have a certain occupation, I must use a Minmatar dropsuit? CCP plz, that just isn't right. I can't **** slaves in their own suit. Are you implying that gallente should only be scouts, minmatar, only logi, amarr only w/e it is?
Would an entire race not have decent technology to build their own type of suit that is usable in more than one situation?
What about us Rp'ers who are disgusted by the idea that you expect us to train Minmatar skills and start us out with gallente skills. Please take those away as I do not want to be stained by these terrible inconsistencies and fallacies.
I got into EVE for Dust514....but goddamn Dust 514 is ruining EVE for me.
The immersion is gone.
Does faction mean nothing anymore?
