Sorry if someone suggested this just gonna throw it out there. so i think it would be cool to have fully destructible enviroments like say an objective was in a tower and you needed to capture or destroy it. just have 3-4 tanks open fire on the base ruining anyones defenses while your at it. and if you needed to capture it do the same thing but first have a dropship squad pick it up.
thoughts?

i was thinking about this the other night actually.
while destructible environments would definitely add something to the mix. my biggest concern would be the amount of processing that would need to go on to make this happen. add to that the networked environment, and the lag that inevitably occurs, and I think it may be more effort than its work from a programming perspective.
again, i do believe the idea has promise, but im not sure if its technically feasible. |

I'm pretty sure its been stated numerous times how the current engine DUST uses is incapable of utilizing destructible scenery. Plus, imagine how unfair that would be to the defenders. we had a 'capture or destroy' objective in the first build, and although it was nice to have two choices, by the end it was just a single Sagaris winning the whole game... that said, those kitttens were way OP in build one. |

Hold on there, doesn't DUST 514 use the Unreal 3 Engine? If so, they should be able to implement some form of destructive environments. Just take a look at this link, bit.ly/S2Pu37 it shows a little bit of environmental destruction.
Although if you think how large DUST 514 will be. With its huge maps and such, I don't think the PS3 has enough processing power for full 64 players(?), Land and Air combat with environmental destruction layered on top. Also the maps we have now if everything was destructible, I think we'd just have a span of pure space desert as a map with very limited cover. |

CCP is considering testing 64 v 64, so the PS3 will most likely not have enough power to render full destructable terrain/building. and yes, destroy building = desert. And, not to mention buildings are placed down by EVE players, so we'll most likely only be able to destroy certain targets in the future. |
