DUST is not and never will be pay to win ... anything you find right now that gives an advantage, you haven't paid for it ! Your AUR will be reimbursed at every wipe. Secondly anything that makes it through to release with a clear advantage will be purchasable from the market for isk at a premium. If you don't want to spend real money on DUST you won't have to to get the 'so called' win items ... just spend more isk buying them from people wanting to effectively buy isk for real money via the AUR items.

AUR items will be capable of being sold to other players who grinded enough ISK. If anyone thinks that there won't be too many players buying a micro-transaction item, turn around and then sell it on the open market for ISK (and never use it), you only need to look at Eve's PLEX system and NeX store items as a clear example of how many people are willing to profit off of anything for ISK. 2. Those prices were meant to teach players how to be conservative with their money and careful with their assets. In Eve, there are ships out their that cost upwards of 500million to 1billion ISK just for the hull alone. Take a look at the T2 battleships and Dreadnaughts. Not a lot of corporations like to waste those ships on a whim unless they have a very well-managed war chest and a deep corp wallet like the alliances do. The prices were never meant to force anyone to buy AUR items. 3. Once the buy/sell market system is up and be able to buy/sell to/from other players, you will be able to openly profit through trades without so much as even fire a bullet or put yourself into the line of fire. Jita market traders do this all the time. There are players in Jita who never undock because all they do is sit in their captains quarters and trade to make a profit. Hint: experienced traders can earn up to 1billion ISK per week if they study the market well enough to predict trends. How's that for an effective argument against the pay-to-win folks?
