The lower the sig radius, the harder you are to be spotted.
The higher your scan strength, the easier you spot enemies. |

No it doesn't. yeah it does
This iswhy AV gernades don't kill a heavy in one hit. It's a bit bugged it'll be obvious in the next build |

If this is like EVE, then reducing your signature profile makes it harder for the enemy to see you on their radar/minimap.
The "sensor upgrade" skill make it easier for you to see the enemy on your radar/minimap.

Being difficult to scan down in EvE is a combination of things..... Signature Size and Sensor Stength.
A small signature size in battle means you are harder to hit with larger weapons. Which if translated to this game should mean that AoE weapons do less damage, however I doubt that is going to be the case and I'd imagine a suit has a sphere, much like shields on a ship, and reducing the sig size will reduce the sphere people can aim for.
The above is pure speculation based on how sig size works in EvE.
I would like to know exactly what this skill does, because I love sig/speed tanking in EvE.... massively effective!
Based on what people have said so far it could be any/all of the following:
1. being difficult to see on the radar map. 2. being difficult to hit with AoE weapons. 3. being difficult to his with close range weapons (less to aim at).

It's a bit bugged it'll be obvious in the next build Av grenades don't explode unless they make contact with a vehicle. All sig radius does is lower the range it takes to be spotted on enemy radar. eg for an assault that would be spotted (chevron) at 100m, it would be 75m with drop suit command 5.

there is no radar, the mini map shows enemies spotted by team mates. I have sniped targets that didn't have chevrons above them, so there is a range to add chevron/map dot. The dots seem to vanish faster when out of sight with more levels of dropsuit command. So, I guess signature radius affects at what range enemies have chevrons added, and how fast they vanish once enemy is out of sight.
If it affects size of hitbox, it would make hit detection act strange. Scouts tend to train this skill, I hope it's a coincidence. If it reduces splash damage(aka aoe) that would be fine, but something said that would be nice. Having a surprise hidden bonus on a skill would not be good. |

Signature profile ONLY applies to the ability of enemies to spot you on the map. It does NOT decrease your hitbox, and I'm pretty sure it has zero effect on aoe weapons (but I suppose you could ask on IRC about it). |

If that is the case then it only does half of what it does in EvE.
That said.... no reason, other than the name, suggets that it should be exactly the same.
Though, mind if I ask how you know this? (not that I doubt you).

Did you mean HAV or heavy, because I've never been able to hit anything other that a veh of some type with an AV. As far as dropsuit command mine is leveled to IV and it seems to make it harder for enemy to spot me. I see no damage reduction benefit at all. It also seems to work well against the lower tier suit i.e. milta, basic. Not so much when it comes to the more advanced suits. |

Has anyone tested merc movement vs signature radius vs detection?
I often wonder if my 'red dot' show up on enemy Huds just as readily if I am running, walking, crouching or still
My question for mercs willing to test: how does movement affect detection? |

I think line of sight is the key, you'll show up as a red dot no matter what you're doing. As long as the enemy has you in line of sight the whole team sees your little red dot. |

^ This is it. It's NOT a radar, it's visual info from your dropsuit and all your teammate's dropsuits uploaded to your team's HUD minimap. |
