Decided to try out the dropship. Spawned one in during a skirmish to practice flying around the safe spawn area. Lifted off fine, struggled with the controls for a couple of minutes, getting used to the way it moves, basically just circling the area. Then I decided to fly a bit higher and faster, test out the banking speed and made a few low dives. All fine. Nearly barrel rolled a few times, but that was ok.
Then I decided to try landing. Was a bit more wobbly (I blame the non-existant crosswinds across the tarmac) but I managed a near text book landing, no damage. I took off again for another test flight, hit something, not sure what, oh dear crash and burn. Managed to bail out, but the ship was dead.
I figured by this point I had a reasonable understanding of dropship physics, so the next test was a real live combat flight. So I bought another ship, spawned it in during another skirmish, 2 guys jumped in, took off and headed into battle. One pass over enemy territory later and I was suddenly engulfed in a raging inferno and very much dead. This was less than ideal.
So yeah, any tips on piloting? Tactics on how best to position myself relative to the enemy and avoid inevitable flamey doom? Decent militia fitting I could try? I was a pretty excellent Warhawk pilot back in the day and I wish to take to the air once again, but this time I admit I need help. |

You cannot avoid the fiery doom. Only postpone it.
Fly low and fast. Have good gunners. Remember it's a transport, not a gunship. |

on release there will be over 20 types of vessels, not only dropships, tanks and "jeeps"
Air vessels : Bombers and Fighters Heavy ground vessels, as far my knowledge / source goes, there will be added a walker unit (kind of like the Goliath in Starcraft) LaV's : no idea |

I literally one shot them with swarms. At best you survive with a sliver of health, reeling and rolling to a death anyway. |

I found that if all I have to worry about are swarm launchers, higher is better (if my gunner/s can deal with it). More height= more recovery time when you get hit. |

Unless you have expert sniping forge gunners or railgun gunners :p I was perty good at dropping them outta the sky last build with my proto forge gun |
