It would be cool as well as useful to allow custom skins for vehicles.
It would allow pilots to clearly distinguish their vehicles and be a fun source if income for CCP.
Essentially you could stamp "stencils" on your vehicle from a long list of symbols and such from a "clip art" sort of pool.
You could save your designs, which could be shared with your corp.
When you decided you wanted to be able to use these "skins" you could pay AUR for it, and then have it as an option to use on your vehicle as a "fitting" slot, but it would not get consumed. The more complex the look, the more it costs.
This could mean your corp could have a specific "look", or you could have a different look for each personal fit.
I know some might want the skins to be consumed, but permanent skins would make people more apt to spend higher amounts of AUR for them, and the fancier the skin, the more AUR it would cost.
Each item placed could have a certain value to it, with some being very spendy.
Check out this video for Modnation Racers of a vehicle design to see how a "clip art" sort of customization setup could be adapted for an EVE vehicle setup. (minus the chassis/etc stuff)

I like that. I had a similar idea for dropsuits. Almost like a badge on your armor that would stick with you no matter what suit or fitting you chose. Like a personal emblem. |

I think CCP is reluctant to add such a thing as custom always means the following:
An increase to server load as all the custom layouts have to be on the server and distributed to the connected clients. An increase in Resources Used on the PS3 by custom stuff on up to 24 players right now. (And there will be coming many more I think) An increase in moderation and control of the submitted contents as I'm sure they don't wan't to see hakenkreuz corps or nude women on the bottom of a dropship. |

Didn't you post this same thing yesterday?
This is a beta... They probably wont push customizations until public/open beta happens.
In this beta... We are not even seeing 5% of what is available. We haven't seen any other faction characters.
We have only seen one faction set... ONE vehicle set... If you watched any of the presentations of the game, you know that.
Each faction looks different... Each faction uses different guns and gun mechanics... Each faction vehicles look different... Each faction has its own perks... Each faction has its own type of buildings... We are in a beta... Mutiplayer beta, testing the server and client integrity.
Go to EVE website. It is what the game is based off, go look through the different factions and spaceships -- Look at all the different attributes that eve has... Then you can get an idea of what this game will have when its complete.
We play as mercenaries... In the Universe of EVE -- Possibly almost everything will be 100% customizable. |

No on fully customized color schemes but a big yes on the badge. Could be shown next to your corp emblem or on the location of your own choosing. |

Yeah I'm talking stencils/logo type stuff, kinda like WW2 bombers and such had.. where in that video is the user able to stencil on nude women? if you understood my message it was using a list of clip art, not user uploaded art.
These would be dynamically downloaded in the game, and I doubt even a couple MB (if that) would be that taxing for bandwidth.
Custom player skins would be an entirely different thing, given the # of possible skins per game, but WoW has done even that for what, 6 years?
Not an essential thing, but would add variety to a rather gray uniform world. |

Now that corps are in, it'd be nice to have corp skins.. this idea could incorporate that and make some Aur. |
