My friend just got into the beta and we were trying to use our mics last night so I could help him understand everything and not go through "noob hell" of trying to figure out what's what in the game and give him a quick understanding.
However, upon turning out mics on, we couldn't hear one another in the "dorm" even with our options to chat on and press to hold off. So I told him to join a game as I hear people talk from time to time, but nothing.
We used the XMB voice chatroom just fine, but couldn't get it to work in dorm or in-game.
What's the problem? |

Before starting dust make sure the mic is on and detected by the ps3. Go to system settings / connected devices to confirm. Start dust514. Join your friends squad. Should work. |

Used my mic for 4 years, works in ever other game.
Is this possibly a bug or are we still missing something? |

Have you enabled voice chat in Dust? It's disabled by default. |

If everything has been checked and verified that your mic is working properly and that your options for both of you are adjusted to be turned on and push to talk off, it should work...eventually. You may both need to reboot or leave squad and come back in, but it should eventually work.
Also, last resort do a skype call or cell phone call or ooVoo call or lots of other out of game options. |
