Many don't like the Swarmers, I'm one of them.
Make a single fireing "javelin" type. This will have an armour piercing rocket/missile and fire straight. It will have a direct hit dammage of lets say from 500-1500 depending on balance calculations done by somebody that can be bothered to do it, like an CCP employee. No splash dammage, making it useless vs infantery. Its basically a normal kind of fps rocket launcher that is meant as a pure AV weapon.
Its strenght is relatively high dammage and the ability to shoot at vehicles when you have terrain/infrastructure at your sides, the drawback is that you can't fire from behind cover as you can with the swarmers. This "javelin" could also be unlockable, (btw this will make it a rocket, not a missile) making the gunner rely on skill to make the shots hit their target. This will make hitting a moving LAV or flythingy quite hard, even hitting a moving HAV at a distance could be quite tricky.
So, back to basic, agreed? |

Still could be used vs infantry, I can hit someone with a straight firing no splash rocket. Perhaps hav it not arm the warhead for 20-50m or so and let it have splash like swarm but double radius(this covers same area as 4 swarms) At long range rockets are easy to dodge, I danced with a HAV at few hundred meters without getting hit while shooting swarms.
Damage to match swarm pre-nerf/now militia and standard 1400/1000 advanced 1750/1250 proto 2100/1500 splash 15damage in 1m radius for each missile
1500,1850,2200 damage for javalin standard, adv, proto seems good, 2m radius 15 damage splash(more annoying then threatening). It will get a boost from not needing lock and ability to fire in close areas. So not much extra damage is needed. Maybe a reduced range from swarm? It can fly farther then lock-on range, maybe javalin would be limited 350m or so. About real life effective rpg range(300m moving target, 500m fixed, self destruct 1000m).
Swarm to javalin is almost like EvE heavy missile to heavy assault missile. |

Forgive me, but it sounds quite similar to the Forge gun, albeit with some differences.
Have you used the forge, which requires straight line aiming and skill to hit? I believe it has a little splash damage and does damage infantry, but then what weapon that does major damage to vehicles wouldn't do the same or worse to infantry? What's your objection to anti-personnel effectiveness? What sets the Javelin apart from the swarmer and forge? Why don't you like swarmers?
I like some of the idea - I've been desirous of a dumb rocket AV weapon myself, which is what the Javelin sounds like, but some of your preferences sound a little arbitrary.

I wouldn't mind having a support item like a LAW that is a disposable AV weapon. |

I don't know about op, I have killed tanks with swarm, assault forge and breach forge(not fan of breach forge gun).
The swarm used to be to effective vs infantry and was nerfed to prevent this. The reduced anti-infantry is to prevent this problem returning.
The forge is a heavy weapon, javelin would be light. I'm in favor of a heavy swarm and Heavy javelin also. Forge fires after delay and hits near instantly, missile fires and has delay to hit. Javelin should be shorter range then forge or swarm, forge range is listed as 1200m it needs to actual shoot that far in my opinion. Javelin is not so much different as a in between of forge and swarm. EvE analog of heavy assault missile to forge's rail and swarm's heavy missile. Just need to add cruise missile and torpedo analog to heavy suit.
It also would be more familiar to fps players since it's basically an rpg.
If/when capacitor is added rockets don't need it forge will.
edit to second the LAW suggestion |

+1, a verticle fire when locked, dumb fire without, bazooka would be nice. Little to no splash as it's an implosive AV warhead. Single fire only, perhaps make it light, like the Swarmer. |

To clarify:
The Forge gun can only be used by heavies - and that in itself is not a problem for me. It is however a problem since many of us would rather watch a Bieber consert than actually crawl around at such a low movement speed. That is a major point for the swarmers, it can be equipped to a scout suit wich with for example a +12% movement speed module, haveing at least some chance to chase and finish of an escaping tank.
I just would like a weapon like that, (like the swarmers) without the cartoonish ballistic trajectory. It could be as easy as just adding 4 new (although be it a little contradictory to the term "swarm") "single fire swarm launchers", one for each tier.
The removal of splash dammage is there for obvious missuse- and balance issues, the insane swarmer trajectory were implemented (I think) purely so that it wouldn't be as easy to use it vs infantery as the OP days of the first beta build, this is just another way of getting the same result. You could still kill infantery with a direct hit, with lets say a 20m minium range for the wathead to arm itself. I have to admit that my inspiration come from todays armor piercing javelin anti-tank rounds, wich is with a little help a way of explaining why there is no splash dammage. Its basically a futuristic armor piercing spear.
Simply put: I want a direct-hit AV weapon that can be carried by others than the heavies. Thats not too much to ask now is it?

Works for me. I do think it should damage infantry, but only with an actual hit to the body, not splash damage. |
