Honestly I just don't understand why this game has TDM on these huge wide-open maps. The team with the tank(s) always wins by a landslide. There is only one, maybe two, maps that are nice and compact/confined (perfect for TDM). Tanks on those maps are not as much a game-breaker as the larger maps, mainly because of lots of cover, small maps size, and many areas inaccessible to tanks.
Personally I think TDM on large maps is not fun in the least, large wide-open maps should only be used for objective based gametypes. And the small TDM based maps should be infantry only, no vehicles of any sort. |

Can't say I agree with this anymore. Since yesterday I have been screwing around with the scattermind swarm launcher. I have solo'd a few armour tanks and 1 very poorly fitted gunloggi. Granted you come up against one of the big boys in their shield tank and I'm an ant to their boot.
My problem with the reasoning that tanks will def win every time is I have seen it happen in our corp battles where we field 3 tanks and redline the opposing team and then I have gone against 3 bigger tank drivers and our team still won without fielding any tanks.
I am by no means an av specialist and have 2 specced into swarm. I am sure the extra damage from my usual speccing is also helping. I do not have the time or sp in this build to even try to spec heavy with forge so if 1 of them could come speak on the difficulty of trying to solo a shield tank with a forge it would be appreciated.
Based purely on my own experience from yesterday if people specced into av and specialized on that style only, teamed up to 3 or 4 and went hunting while having another 4 killers backing them the tide might be changed.
Also guys please if you see a poor **** running swarms on your team and 4 people are charging him because they know he has a swarm launcher and some sad secondary...give the brother a little cover please. If I ask for a nano hive because I have spread mine across the field and you don't feel like it please just climb on your mic and tell me to go **** myself. I will know your feelings on the matter and try to sort myself out some how. It is the silence that is killing me...plus your loud breathing doesn't help me hear the tanks treads.
I'm sure a whole bunch of these issues will be sorted when grouping in really turned on though. |

100% percent agree with the spawns. I really didn't expect mw3 to have competition for worst spawns ever.
Maybe they should have more of a skirmish start to the round? Suppose that will just bring back the redlining. |

It is certainly not "take down a tank to win". I recently specialized in swarm launchers, my AV load out is assault A series dropsuit with 2 complex light damage modifiers and of course a prototype swarm launcher among other things. I destroy every HAV LAV or dropship I run into, if not. I keep them back at bay away from my team. Although it feels satisfying seeing a tank running away from me for a change, I haven't been getting as much points as I used to when I ran with my assault rifle. Not many points in destroying tanks, even if i take it out with three red dots inside it. I did an experiment today, I found a tank with an empty seat. I hopped in and basically did nothing but watch how the guy is playing, and guess what, I got more sp sitting ducks in his tank, than probably the 10 times I destroyed it when we were on opposite teams. To DEVs, there is no incentive to specialize in AV weapons and equipment...if i destroy a sagaris I deserve some of the million+ isk I just cost its driver, and of course the same sp my run and gun teammates are getting, if not more. I cleared the field for them to play in it. |
