Maybe I'm missing the obvious, but it doesn't look like dropships are showing on my mini-map when they're above me or circling the area around me. Are they suppose to? I would assume that as many blues/greens are in the area, someone would have noticed it to ping on my map. I can find them on my larger map, but by the time the screen loads I'm dead.
Let me be clear, I have no problem with DS orbiting known spawn points and taking out whoever pops in. I can always try to spawn a new location and snipe the gunner or swarm. The problem is I can't get any context of where they are soon after spawn to get a fix, to try to find where NOT to run towards. Spawn in, quick look at the mini-nap, nada. Clear. Dead. Not clear. ;) I've even survived long enough to quickly do a 360 towards the sky/horizon to see if any DS are on me, triangles floating, etc. Seems clear, so I run, then dead. This is not rifle sniping. Well, it COULD be and just coincidental that a DS passes my line of sight as soon as I'm down.
Let me be even clearer, this is not a problem really. Just an annoyance that I can't seem to get around in a very few set of games lately. Usually I'm fine with DS. Lately I feel I've misplaced a few brain cells.
If map is working as intended (no reference to tightly orbiting DS above my spawn point), then what have you found to be the best option to avoid relatively quick pops back to the spawn selector screen under orbiting DS? Typically I'll run scout at start to set a few Drop Uplinks at locations down from some objectives, picking up 2-3 hacks en route. I usually get popped at this point by two assaults. They may be in comms transmitting my general location so perhaps DS pilot gets a heads up on my DU locations. Not sure really. Just thinking. Perhaps over-thinking ;)
I will say the last few matches, enemies have been quite coordinated. I can see strategy on the overview map with three LAVs in a delta pattern around an objective dropping assaults to rush from three sides. Interesting. I don't mind losing to this. It's exciting to watch unfold. Enemies holding a line across a railing instead of running out randomly one by one without purpose other than to shoot and be shot. There's been a few matches tonight where I've actually stopped firing to just watch and appreciate what the enemy is doing. Both of us on a ledge just below the platform in front of us, squatting and standing long enough to try to get a head shot without risking the charging in with full on fire > reload > strafe BS. I wish the fonts looked better on my view so that I could actually make out who the hell you are. I'm jealous.
Anyway, back to point. DS stuff and mini-maps. Sup?
