I was thinking about putting some skill points into LAVs. I think they are pretty fun to drive, but I have a concern about their durability. Do they get much tougher than the starter lav? I don't want to waste my points. |

Hello Vrexn,
As a dedicated LAV driver myself I can tell you that the starter LAV is nothing compared to a properly fitted one, man. In fact I'm sad that the free sorry excuse of a car exists as it makes all LAVs look pathetic and weak. In reality they can be very powerful and can outmaneuver tanks all the time. I find tanks in bad positions all the time and can inflict some serious damage to them with my main man gunner Don "Big Daddy" Bobben.
Now as far as durability goes mine can take pretty heavy damage and I can survive many shots from poor swarm launchers and a few from good ones. The good thing is that a good driver can easily escape after taking some damage because the LAV is so much more agile and fast compared to a tank for example. Also a good missile launcher does some pretty impressive damage too.
If you have any questions I'm glad to answer them and if you wanna drive my car give me a shout online and you can see what you think.
Best regards, Zane Hollgren |

yes they're pretty tough to crack at higher levels using a swarm at least you can bail out in the higher ones. |

Yes they can be pretty beastly. The problem is balancing cost with use.
If you get out to hack an objective it may get stolen.
So you find yourself driving around most of the match guarding your investment.
So I use a moderately advanced lab only cost about 45,000 so not afraid to throw it away. Although I have been shot out of a time or two and because its so resilient the other team hacks it and keeps it alive the whole match. |

Yeah, I believe a lot of people like to keep the costs low so they can kind of use it as a quick transport, maybe get a few kills then capture objectives and not having to worry about losing the vehicle in the process as its very cheap. My personal approach is a bit different though. I spend a lot of money on my cars (in fact all of it. My car costs 433,000 ISK), as driving is what I do. It's good to have a friend so he can be the gunner and also go for the objectives. I do lose cars regularly but not nearly every game even though I do take risks all the time and challenge enemy tanks whenever they come out to play, but at the same time I'm able to sustain this type of living (and dying). |

I have a few terribly fit lavs I use as my roaming logi truck. I find people less likely to nick my sniper railgun cheapo fit.
One match I did manage to steal it back from some reds who nicked it while I was around the corner doing logi stuff. Was pretty pleased about that. |

You can make them pretty durable. My LAV runs me 250,000 isk per copy. Have not lost one to the enemy but have lost a few to friendlies. I don't bring it out with randoms anymore. |
