I hate tanks. Fair enough since I've been shot by the uber shield tankers enough times.
Mind you, I DO drive a tank. It can, however be killed by current AV people (my fit doesn't allow for uber shields).
Biggest problem with the uber tankers, they have God-awefull shield levels and resists, drive faster than a Scout suit can sprint (I've seen it happen), and pwn the battlefield like it was their own playground.
My tank has a fairly simple fit:
Shield Extender Damage Control Shield booster 2xPower Grid Upgrades 2xSmall Missile launchers 80GJ Railgun
It barely fits this, and works for me when I can find a reletively safe spot to shoot from. It has barf accell and top speed (a sprinting heavy Armor can outrun me), so safety is a must.
The non-militia tanks have much better stats to start with, and can better equip with plenty of space to spare. They have high accel/speed, so getting around the battlefield (or behind a building if need) is easy for them. They can kill weaker tanks like nobodies buisiness.
I say, give the non-militia tanks the Sica's accel/speed (there will be a module to up the speed later), as well as 'ballancing' the slots/stats to make them harder to infini-tank.
That, and undoing the AV nerf (Swarm Launchers lost 100dp per missile) will allow for the grunts to force these Yahoos who think their God to realize carrying a spare set of underwear is not optional anymore.
They are going to increase the cooldown time of the shield/armor repairers, which is a good thing too.
There will, however, be lots and lots and LOTS (and LOUD) screams from these super tankers. They'll usually be the guys with the double digit KDR's, you watch.
Well, like in Eve, ADAPT OR DIE! ALOT!
In Eve, I mostly fly a shield tank ship. Raven or Golem. These fits are great for PVE, but would suck at PVP. It is, however, expensive to get that tank, and it cuts into my damage.
If they ballance the tanks like that, the tankers will have to choose great shield tank, or good killing ability. Having both is just griefing (YES, it DOES apply to a FPS!)
So, anybody who thinks the coming nerfage is a bad thing, you are wrong. If the only thing that can't die on the battlefield is a super tank, it isn't fun for the guys (and gals) who are its targets. So get over yourself. If you were that good a player, you wouldn't need a super tank.
And now the flamesuit is doned. |

So explain to me why it takes less skill points to get a SUPER TANK then a Proto drop suit |

It may be the case. However then the tanks need not only small turrets, for the type they are going for, later there will be even more different skills for that, so a driver have to choose which type he wants. Poor tanker if he wants his tank to use a different type of main turret. For instance missile small, and Rail gun main, then he has to actually train BOTH small turrets to max, and then their specializations for added efficiency.
Overall, I think you'll find that tanks are pretty hard to train to do well.

Hard to do well? I've gone 31:0 in a militia tank by just slapping on shield resistance amplifiers. These things are ungodly powerful. Good news is, next build it will be rebalanced so we just have to put up with a little bit longer. |

Shield resist amps are being adjusted, I think they are bugged somehow. |

Dewie look at the leaderboard. It currently reads "most time spent in a tank" |

They might be, I just went against a Surya in it and almost won. I don't know if that is awesome or cheap. |
