I put forth these observations not as a whiner but because CCP says as part of closed beta they want feedback. so here goes CCP..
1. The instant matching system seems to be broken. I say this because I read I will be matched with players of a similar skill level and equipment. I guarantee that isn't' happening. I am up against proto suits and heavy tanks. I get insta popped so often I feel bad for any team I am on as I don't feel I am making a contribution.
2. because I can't stay alive long, I can't ever use any of the nicer stuff i happen to qualify for (nice being level 1 usually instead of free) because the little isk I earn doesn't go far. I get the idea is not to die, and if you match me with other players with low skill points and crap gear I will have a chance.
3. I like all the options for the drop suits. I think one of the suits should have 3 weapon slots. Maybe there is and I haven't found. maybe the heavy as its slow and you are a sitting duck and even with all its hit points get insta popped all the time.
4. Injecting people needs to be improved. Its too exacting to stab them and half the time I die trying to res someone. My friend says don't res if hostiles around but gee, if there was no hostiles no one would be dying. Anyways if all I need is to inject them to bring them back, give me a gun with injection darts to shoot at my fallen comrades. lol Okay that may never happen..but its an idea. One idea is a logistics suits with massive hp's but a big negative on gun damage so it can't be use by the assault guys. so can live while getting shot trying to revive someone. but idk..maybe that is silly also. but seems a trade off. good resistance in return for less firing ability. or a suit with uber armor and shield regen. or be able to put up a portable shield around the victim and then res him. and say maybe the portable shield has hit points so its killable. but while they are killing you gives you a chance to do some life saving. With this kind of technology, i would think the medic would have such a thing. make one you can't shoot out of so the assault guys can't abuse it.
5. tanks. omg. swarm thing does no good against a heavy tank. The forge gun I get one shot off then am insta popped. So yeah it does more damage..but tank is not dead.
Honestly I thought the battles would be bigger. Like a miniature version of Planet Side.
Until they fix the insta match or have a player wipe so I am NOT up against people with 5 million or more skill points, I dont see the point of playing. I can't afford any gear and I can't get many skill points because I can't win any battles against the uber skilled uber geared players.
basically its a great idea for a game but atm isn't very much fun if you are new and up against all the experts. that is something you need to iron out or the game will be dead 6 months after launch. As any new players will be so frustrated they will quit. |

i fully agree with 4.... no doubt, and as for 2, that was my gaming experience as well for the first 2 weeks, but when game drops, and thousands more are playing, that will become far less frequent, and you will learn to adapt... as I've heard from every EVE player |

4. I believe almost everything you mentioned is on the way, or is possible in some form or other.
If you look through all the dropsuit modules you can start to get an idea for what you might want to do to make your tank medic. The problem, as always, is getting there.
But if you invest in a suit where almost all the available CPU and PG go to defense and support items you could put togather a logi fitting with super fast shield regen, extra armor, armor repair, and just a good nanite injector and maybe a low demand gun.
Yes, starting gear is not great, and no, as a new player you should not be running into tanks in your first 4 days if there is any semblance of restricted match making going on.
Then again, tanks are really easy to skill into. If a player went strictly for tanks they would be able to use them with the same amount of sp that another player would have invested in just trying different things out over the first week or so.
For all the effort you would have to put into making the logi fitting you described (as you pointed out) you could much more easily roll around in a tank with many times more hp, shields, and damage dealing weapons. |
