I'm having some major internal error and comms problems and I'm considering deleting and re-downloading. I'm pretty sure I won't lose my character but I'd like some confirmation before I do this. So, will I lose my dude if I re-download? |

However do not delete character s in the menu.
Deleting dust and re downloading will have no effect on your characters. |

tbone i doubt it will work to fix your problem of internal errors; ive already tried it and it didnt fix it. ive also tried restore files and restore database in safe mode, nothing has worked so far. at this point u have to play with a different character if u want comms with friends or squadmates. |

Internal errors can be a result of hdd issues....
To validate, install a fresh hdd into the ps3 and reformat it, ans reinstall from scratch. Backup of existing hdd and restore to new hdd will not resolve the problem if the original hdd was faulty. |

So are you saying that the hard drive on my PS3 is crapping out? |

Precisely. But the only way to validate it is to follow my suggestion. I had similar issues a while back, which were not fixed with reinstall of the original drive. I then tried a backup and restore to a new hdd. Same problems. But when I rebuilt from scratch using the new hdd, all problems solved.

If I buy a new HDD when I install it do I just have to log in and friends list etc will be restored? |

It's an MMO. Of course your character is on the server.
I just reinstalled DUST. I installed a new hard drive. I had to download the client and download a patch and all that, but otherwise everything was smooth. Options are saved in the save data file. |

If you buy a new hdd, you put it in the ps3 and the ps3 will then format it. You need to have the latest xmb build on a USB stick to load the latest version of xmb.
Once reformatted with the latest xmb, you create a new login a out for the ps3 and associate it with your existing psn account. All your friends are then restored. |

I did what you suggested and it didn't work. As soon as I activated Team comms I got the internal error. I'm quite frustrated with this whole thing |

Hmmm...you mean push to talk or using voice? I think maybe you need to email [email protected]
i used to also have comms issues with a Samsung headset and when the network mtu was set too low.....
I got some px21 headset then increased mtu and that fixed it but it still never worked with Samsung.. |

Hey Tbone a great Mag hello to you. Do not! delete/reinstall. Push to talk off(and leave PTT off) and then regular voice chat options select on for voice chat. Activate voice in either team or squad chats.
Radio Shack Gigawear USB headset 18 bucks works good with Dust.

I've emailed them a couple of times a few days ago and haven't heard back. This is really weird: If i turn chat off I can play just fine. If I join a game with chat off it works just fine, until I turn it back on AND activate either Team or Squad chat. Simply turning it on does nothing, it's when I actively try to join a voice chat channel that the internal error boots me.
I even bought a UVT to test this out. I turned the UVT on, no problem. As soon as I Activate voice in one of the chat rooms, boom, internal error every time.
The really weird thing is that this doesn't happen with the character in my second slot. The comms work just fine with that guy but my primary guy in slot one has this weird bug.
I really wish CCP would get back to me on this... |

IT is an internal error..... what is internal, the ccp servers..... it has little to do with your ps3.
I have a friend that can't access the market place with any regularity......yet when they switch to another psn/sen name it works with no problems for the most part.
Explain to me how adding a contact again, because of the server switches changing their name in some way, resulted in some sort of corruption on my ps3 to cause an internal error to start with; a bad file on my ps3.? Same thing that happens when you buy a skill for the first time and get an internal error....what on the ps3 could cause an INTERNAL error. |
