I use the Sony Wireless Stereo Headset. The sound quality is great, controls easy to use and accessible, the price is good--a great product all around.
The only problem is sometimes when they aren't plugged in they can interfere with your wireless internet connection. It seems like it only affects some people, and it can be fixed by either plugging the headphones into the PS3 (like if you were recharging them) or getting a USB extender and plugging the receiver into that. |

From an audiophile, and yes I have used/owned all of these:
Sony Wireless VSurround Headset
Pros:
- Cheap
- Easy to set up and use
- Rechargable and wireless
Cons:
- Sound quality is bad
- Surround representation leaves a lot to be desired
- Uses same frequency as the WIFI which COULD cause trouble (tho most likely won't)
- Terrible battery time
- Weak microphone
Turtle Beach PX-21
Pros:
- No need to recharge
- Decent sound quality
- Sound controller is easy to use
Cons:
- No virtual surround
- Sloppy build quality!!!
- Wired (tho for me that's more often than not a pro instead of a con)
- Weak microphone
Tritton AX-720
Pros:
- Good sound quality
- Excellent virtual sound representation!
- No need to recharge headset
- Good microphone
Cons:
- Background noise can be annoying from time to time.
- Most annoying wire I have seen!
- Sound controller could be better, PX21s is better
Sony MDR DS6500
Pros:
- Fantastic sound and virtual representation quality!
- Wireless AND good battery life!
Cons:
- Expensive!
- No mic :(
My vote goes to... *drumroll* AX-720s! And with that said, I wanna try a pair of A50s..... *drools* |

I use the Turtle Beach DPX21. It has true surround (not virtual surround like the Sony wireless), i.e. multiple speakers in each cup. The surround sound effect is amazingly good, to the point that the first few times I used it I though I had left my 5.1 system on and that's what I was hearing. The voice chat functionality is really good too with load of customisation options.
Only draw back is it's wired (but a simple usb plug and play, with a very long lead!), they do a wireless option but it's much more expensive.

Sony wireless Bluetooth Headset the little black ones that comes with the bundles or by them self
and the Gioteck EX-02 now between those two i would say even tho Sony's cost bit more you would think its better than the Gioteck one because its way cheaper than theirs is but its the other way around its better and got better sound quality and it also has noise reduction so id say if your looking for one look for it but it all comes down to what you want to spend on one and what all kind things you are looking for . for me i don't care so much about having all surround Sound 2.1 , 5.1 or even 7.1 all i care about is clear quality were people im talking too can hear me and i can hear them clear as a bell . if i want all that i would hook my stereo upto the tv an run it that way. anyways thats just what i use but thats just me though |

Good surround becomes more important with better sound quality in the game. When you can start to actually hear enemies approaching you from different directions it gives you a real edge (IMHO of course!)

I use PlayStation BlueTooth headset (and I use it with my phone aswell when driving car in real life).
You can use any BlueTooth mobile phone handsfree with PS3 I think, so if you already have BlueTooth handsfree you can use that. One of my friend use Nokia Handsfree while playing PS3.
This game has PushToTalk system so you can keep sounds coming from you stereo/home theater system/etc. and know one doesn't need to hear that all the time.
But if you can't use enough volume with Stereo/HTS or you don't have good enough (for you) soundsystem, good headset is better option than handsfree.
Btw. How many even use headset anyway, becouse I haven't heard anyone to say anything yet in this beta? |

I'm using the Sony PS3 Wireless Headset too and for 100$ I'm absolutely satistfied with sound quality for a gaming headset, and haven't experienced any problems so far with Wi-Fi or battery life. I was a bit skeptic about buying an "official" product at first, but if looking at the means to an end, these are a decent pair of headphones. |

I ust the Tritton Ax Pro.
I love the headsets, I have 2
1) They are compatable with both Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and other sound systems. If you have lots of media in your setup, its probably the best headset to go with
2) They have excellent 5.1 dolby surround sound. Not simulated like other headsets. Each ear cup has 4 small speakers in it, for your rear, center, front, and sub
3) The only 2 downfall to these headsets is A) They are expensive and B) Lots of wires. The headset is not wireless, and the headset itself requires it own power supply, though they did manage to make it so you can plug the headset into the box, and not required to plug into a power outlet, The good thing however is unlike some wireless headsets you dont require line of site cause like some turtle beach wireless they use infrared not blue tooth therefore if you dont have line of sight your sound will degrade
Another good thing about wired is when the batteries start to die your sound will degrade, and you never have to worry about replacing batteries, and again as I said, your sound does not degrade like in other headsets
4) Again as I said it has 4 speakers in each ear cup, so you have a total of 8 speakers. Unlike some other headsets you have 1 speakers simulated surround sound. Thats a lot of noise coming from one speaker
Also you can control the volume output of each speaker serperatly, so if you want to have your rear speaker louder than your center, you can. If you like to have loud subwoofer, you can turn it up without turning up all the other speakers and etc
The ear piece which fits over your ears is nice and large, and covers your whole ear, blocking out a lot of sound around you. However if you try to talk to someone beside you, you end up yelling cause you cant hear yourself over the sound coming through the speakers (I woke up the wife a few times talking in game cause I be yelling not knowing it lol)
The headset itself lights up so if you take it out with you, its a pretty cool looking headset |

I use the Logitech F540s. They brought the price down you can get it at Tiger Direct for $80 now. Sound quality is great. Cnet rates it as having one of the highest quality sound despite it not being surround sound. Their rating actually has the quality high enough that it was better than any of the simulated surround sound headsets at distinguishing the direction of the sound. Its wireless and was really simple to set up. Mic is great as there is a big red light in your field of view if you mute the mic so you dont look like a moron talking into your muted mic. |

I also use the Sony Official PS3 Wireless Headset.
I think the software they use to emulate the surround sound works really well. On BF3 I can easily hear the direction which someone is approaching from. The battery life is great, I think it's more than 8 hours. Also, the voice chat is brilliant.
I've heard some people complain about interference with their wireless connections. My router is 136cm from my PS3 and it's never interfered with the headset. However, when I use bluetooth with my laptop and phone, which is less than 30cm from my PS3 and right next to my headset, that does interfere.
The only disadvantage is perhaps that the extendable microphone appears to be a little flimsy, but if you take good care of it then I doubt it will break. Plus, the price is fantastic. I paid only -ú64 for them on Amazon, roughly $100.
I think it's also worth mentioning that the headset is light and very comfortable. Since it's an official PlayStation product, the on screen notifications are also very nice to have. |

It's a pretty nice headset, but I wish I could have tried it on before I bought it...
Reason being that I have rather large and 'weird' ears, and the headset does not accommodate for that, so I get ear cramps...

Is it possible to get the PX5's 7.1 surround to work on a computer that has no optical out using the Audio Advantage Micro II? I have both and can only seem to get stereo with it. I'm thinking of returning it for the for the DPX21 instead if I can't get it to work. |

Check the description again. The DPX-21 is the standard PX-21 with a Dolby processor.
It's just a stereo headset with virtual surround sound. (I don't think Turtle beach makes a multi-speaker headset.)
Don't get me wrong, It's still a decent headset; Just not a true surround sound like a Tritton axPro or 360. |

i have a set of the tritton ax pros and absolutely love them. the only real downside to them is when using them with the 360 and have the charge cable for the controller plugged in u get some feedback thru the headset, and the cables.
Having worked at gamestop for 3 years everyone always talks about how great the turtlebeach headsets are but i see way more of those come back broke than any tritton and the tritton have a 2 year warranty where the turtle beach do not.
Also if ur into MLG then u cant use wiresless headsets anyway cuz per their rules the controller and headset must be tethered to the console. |

They make the z6a headset, but it's pc and xbox 360 though. Thats pretty much the only true multi speaker setup I see them selling on newegg. Granted my experience with the dss2 is that it does work fairly good at upmixing to surround, especially with optic cable hookup. |
