Giving the heavy suit the ability to carry a heavy weapon and a light weapon, as opposed to a heavy weapon and a sidearm.
Your opinion on current state of heavy and post implementation of a Heavy-Light weapon combo.

Really bad suggestion. Balance the heavy weapons to be better in their roles instead. |

There would be two heavies. Forge gun and AR or HMG and swarm. Sure there would be funny exceptions, possibly even dual AR heavies, but the basics would boil down to great AV and AP in one package, with high health barely making up for the slow speed. It's too much for one soldier to be good at all at once. |

Not to mention it would make the heavies the go to solution to basically everything. Oh sure your looking at this in a anti vehicle perspective and Noc touched on with duel rifles but imagine this, you could give one of those prototype suits advance shield buffer or regen modules on the high slots, a minigun, forge gun, or just a sniper rifle if they really wanted, and then if you give them a light weapon they could have a sniper rifle AND a shotgun, say maybe a breach forge gun for medium range encounters, they would have the HP to take direct shots from tank railguns, and they would also have the abillity to regenerate 10 armour per second added to their shield puff. Heavies are dangerous enough as it is when a good pilot uses them. |

I have a hunch this thread was created by feeling heavies were missing something. The change to suit tiers and hp hit heavies the hardest, since they mainly got upgrades in health, not slots like other classes. I actually think that change was a good direction for DUST, however the entire suit line needed to be rebalanced to go with it. 5 slots at prototype level versus 3 slots at militia is severely underwhelming. Stack on top of that the wide open nature of all the maps we currently have, with the only vertical ledges being insurmountable for heavies, and you have sitting ducks being ripped apart. People expected a clash of immovable objects meeting unstoppable forces in titanic battles that make you feel like two arguments of the perfection of the soldier are facing off and leave disappointed. I would love to see more distinction between classes instead of the homogenization we have now. Health for speed isn't that interesting of a difference at the end of the day, which is why I suspect OP started searching for other things. |
