As it is right now, I think there are too many people out there who don't know the advantages of being a squad leader. Many squad leaders either choose not to give orders or don't understand how to.
In order to minimize this, a short tutorial or training course could be implemented that teaches the player about being a squad leader. In order to be selected as a squad leader, the player would have to have completed the tutorial/course. If all players have done so, the squad leader would be chosen based on amount of war points earned or something similar. This would minimize the amount of noobs that become squad leaders, and grant a more experienced player priority for becoming squad leader.
Using a mic could also possibly increase the player's chance of becoming squad leader.
Now, I think that this should NOT apply to someone who has their own private squad and has invited their own friends/comrades, but only randomly selected squads. |

The point is not that I want to be squad leader. It's to reduce the amount of handicapped squads on the team because the squad leader doesn't know how to use squad commands. I'm sure many orbital strikes get wasted because the guy that can call it in doesn't understand. |

Just got the message that I can be squad leader but I don't know a thing about it. Also, I have yet to be in a match that people are using mics. Maybe it's my settings. IDK |

So take it away from people. Lets see how that goes over.

being that there is a focus on team based gameplay I don't think your request is valid when you're only talking about PUG's
some people also use UTC's in a channel chat to keep in touch with multiple squads in multiple games |

A tutorial is most likely a good probability. Most likely an online-guide, instead of an In-Game tutorial.
Also, about the microphone part, I don't think that will go far in terms of the experienced players who don't have the money to buy a mic, but are instead experts on the way of being commander or something.
I have a microphone earpiece. Do I use it? Only when I really need to (e.g. seriously cooperative games). I'm sure the restrictions of becoming Squad Leader are being discussed, but maybe not as severely as you might think. |
