Right now I get a major Halo vibe from this game and I really don't like it. There is little teamwork in Halo and this game appears to be falling victim to the same style. I've played EvE for several years before taking a break and really enjoyed the corporation teamwork approach to accomplishing anything from collecting, building, to attacking/defending your space. When I saw this game was coming out I really saw the potential of what this could mean for both console gaming and a new dynamic to the EvE universe.
Objectives need to be introduced to focus team goals. Right now I just run/jump around and kill, or die as it appears to be my current norm, as I did in Halo. There should be bases to control as in A, B, or C in which points are gained for the player as well as corp recognition.
Command structure. Having a commander, and leaders for squads opens another door for teamwork. Have a tactical reward given to commanders and leaders for accomplishing objectives. Increase fire power or have a special bomb or revive all option. Additionally, these commanders and squad leaders should be able to designate targets or locations for the team to move to in order to earn points.
I'm sure CCP has some grand plans for this and they will take the long road to success but if I don't have to really play for anything, then what is the point? Where's the glory of victory? |

Okay, I'm guessing you haven't actually played the game, since it already has objectives called A, B, C, etc and it has squad leaders that issue targets, and there's already a "reward" for accomplishing objectives. It's called and orbital strike. |

Sounds like you're not very experienced with this game, because it sounds like you only played Ambush (team deathmatch).
There are already squad leaders which can place commands (rally, attack, defend, capture). Squad leader gets points for setting and maintaining commands. Squad members get extra points for doing the commands.
Skirmish mode has 3 to 5 objectives (A, B, C [sometimes D, and F]) which must be captured to win a battle. In Skirmish these objectives gives control over anti-MCC cannons which help destroy the enemy's MCC (mobile command center, really big ship.)
There will be an MCC commander position coming soon, and it has been confirmed since years ago. |

Command structures are a planed feature. Deplorable player/corp purchased structures used in districts that are held by your forces (this is like EVE in that it's going to be a persistent universe once live).
Squad commanders are already part of the game, and the possess the ability to issue orders which show up on screen and also grand a bonus SkillPoint gain when for squad members who head them.
I'm sure we'll see even more team play when the world matters, the losses matter more and the teams are actually Corps fighting for real objectives (even in the deathmatch settings) rather than a bunch of people thrown together randomly to kill each other while waiting for the next reset. It is a beta after all and very hard to build much progressive traction when everything is in testing, subject to frequent change, and verifiability impermanent. How would Null Sec be with full character wipes and the inability for players to define structures?
It'll become much more teamwork oriented when live.

Oh boy not this again!
I really don't see anything similar between dust and halo, or any other fps for that matter, and I've been playing halo since the old xbrick came out way back in early 2000's. What I like about dust is its idiot proof, it will filter out all the morons and leave the ones who know what they're doing to enjoy the game. |
