Now, it's been awhile since I played eve but I'm pretty sure that in that game you can create fits for equipment which you do not own. Creating fittings for items can become really expensive in this game because to try different fittings you need to currently own all the equipment you are putting on your fit. A fitting screen more like eve (from what I remember, I also used some 3rd party tools so I may be confusing them with the actual game) would be really helpful since how do I know if I should buy the vehicle with more powergrid or more cpu if I can't test fit anything without simply purchasing both and testing it out. |

Agree! I used to play around a lot with the EVE Fitting tool. Was the first thing that came to my mind when I was doing my first dust fit. Simply "test fittings" which can be saved and loaded, maybe also posted to chats. I'd also welcome the option that even though you own stuff for a certain slot, you could browse the market while fitting. |

Well, I can tell you for sure that in Eve, you can't create a fitting with a module or even a ship that doesn't exist in your hangar.
But I agree that it is rather bothersome having to buy a module in order to test fit it. Not so much because it costs a lot of money (after you've played a few matches you can easily afford a single copy of any module on the market), but because you need to browse the market every time, and because every additional item you own clutters up the list of items available for fitting for each slot.
Vehicles however can be quite expensive to buy just for test fitting. But remember that eventually we will be able to sell items that we don't need, so you can always sell that surya if you change your mind and would like a sagaris instead.
And I'm sure there will appear a Dust equivalent of the Eve fitting tool at some point, provided CCP offers access to the game's item data base like they do in Eve. |
