Ok,,, so not having played EVE (much), i'm new to CCP as a gaming company.....
I'm perfectly happy with the Beta,,,, problems happen, thats why we're here--- thats life lets move on.....
BUT
my question relates to Dust514 once it launches as a full game.....
What are they like in Eve when a player encounters a problem?? And how do you imagine that'll translate to dust??
Example being the current problem with skillbook purchases (which can cause a disconnect-- charges you the funds but doesnt give a skillbook)....
If this were to happen in the full game,,, are they quick to respond and sort it out?? (in certain situations in DCUO,, you had to provide evidence yourself to the devs to get restored.... and that game supposedly left Beta over a year ago)
I know we're a long way off, but i'm just curious..... and to be honest it'll affect how much time/money i put into my character.... I'm pragmatic with these things,,, dont expect it sorted within 5 minuted of me reporting it lol but if i'm waiting for a week/// they hardly ever help.... then, well, i'll still play ha i'll just be making stress balls with devs faces on them (5million isk each if you're interested)
Basically, I think the question in a nutshell is...... What are CCP like on the cust service side of things when it goes wrong with a full game rather than during a Beta? (something that will inevitably happen to someone somewhere)
(apologies wrong part of forum grrr) |

There are several long-running jokes in the EVE community about CCP's tendency to break things whenever they introduce new content. Every new expansion is followed by a period of at least moderate bugginess where things you wouldn't even think to break get broken.
That period is usually only a week or so long. What I'm saying is, they're pretty good about identifying issues and fixing them. |

thanks muchly...
how about in situations where it goes wrong and you dont get items you paid for etc etc....
Are they quick to rectify it??? (like i said in DCUO sometimes they expected you to have the proof,,, or are they good at having the data to hand they need???

to be honest i've never experienced that while playing eve online.
I did get killed by massive lag once, mailed support about it but they couldn't find any evidence and therefore couldn't give me my drake back :(
Normally they're pretty thourough at the support desk and if they find that something went wrong they'll solve it. |

I'll answer as a long term EVE player...
I played EVE for several years (from about 9 months after launch). I needed to appeal for 'reimbursement' four times as far as I recall. Two got reimbursed within four hours. One got turned down as they couldn't verify the loss. One got turned down as due to my stupidity (they didn't say that... paraphrasing lol).
So overall, pretty quick to respond, fair but not pushovers.
As someone previously said, patch days/weeks were a nightmare. The rule was never do anything risky in the 24 hours after a patch as you could pretty much guarantee *something* you relied on had been broken. Problems were quickly identified and fixed though. |

I'd agree with whats been said, as an Eve Beta tester and still running 2 accounts I've seen most of the mayhem patch days cause. But yes, they address the issues quickly and in a decent priority order.
As for petitions and losses due to issues, I'd say CCP are one of the best I have seen at responding promptly, fairly and consistently, yes that means if you are owed it you stand a very good chance of getting it back, if you are trying it on for luck, you likely won't get that far.
There have been a few high profile issues, as with any MMORPG the community (gamers in general) love to jump on a hot rant thread, but looking at the numbers, something like currently 400k active account, and coming up to 10 years running, I think they have the petition/loss/evidence tracking down pat now |
