This thread is awesome.
The DUST514 doesn't really explain things, so threads like these really do us all a big favor.
One thing I am still wondering about is that what class is considered as "the best". Can you consider a certain dropsuit as a class? I've tried them out (except the logistics dropsuit), but all I could notice was that as Heavy, rolling around with my Forge Gun was relatively safe, I could take out LAVs and some infantry targets from medium ranges, but I was really vulnerable against more experienced assault/logi players and snipers.
When I chose to try out the Assault, I noticed that snipers didn't hit me as often, but when they did hit me, they almost killed me with the first hit. As I was not that experienced, I found myself out of firepower against veteran heavy players, for they had a lot of shields and armor. HMGs were stronger than my cheap assault rifle, so I couldn't even challenge them on a firefight.
Playing as a sniper was by far the safest method, but I quickly found it boring. I did notice, however, that flanking and taking enemy objectives as sniper/arbiter was a lot easier.
I know this might be really out of the thread subject, but opinions and/or advice would be appreciated.
Also, I haven't found a single thread about the classes/dropsuit types explained. There are some of those "yeah yeah heavy weaponary requires heavy dropsuit" and "snipers have almost no shield at all" -threads, but I need more deep and fully-explained guides about specific classes/dropsuit types. |

Part of it is the tier of the dropsuit.
Logi is a medic/engineer type with multiple equipment slots for equipment, so t1 is fine.
Assault- t1 is lame imo. You'll see a tremendous improvement between t1 and t2. I wouldn't even play t1 at all if you're trying it out. The strength of t2 assault are its shields, and its ability to do many things well. It can carry a light weapon + sidearm, has the high/low slots to equip what you want, and the pg/cpu to do it too. It's fairly mobile, so you'll be able to move. It also has the second smallest hit box in the game. Run and gun, play objectives, this is the usual go-to ground-pounder.
Scout- t1 is awesome. It's fast. It has the smallest hit box in the game. Shields and speed are its advantage. You can run in, drop a dude, duck into cover for a few seconds and hit up the next guy because your shields are at full again. t2 scout sucks imo, but some like it for the additional equipment slot. It doesn't make any sense to me because the advantages to a scout are its speed and shield, so you're taking the two best things about it and making it worse.
Some peeps like shotgun scout, but I believe it just nets people lucky kills, and it is almost always useless in corp battles. Scout + AR is much better.
Heavy- I hate heavies. I wish they'd all explode thirty seconds after deploying in to battle.
Hit box is important- almost no one seems to be able to strafe and aim. |

for classes, it's a mix of dropsuits and gear choice. You can play logi as assault with the proto logi dropsuit because it's probably better than the assault one. You make a scout, heavy and assault all into good Anti-Vehicle. There's probably no guide because the choices are up to you. Play around, decide what you like! |
