I was wondering if anyone know how BPOs are going to work or if they are going to work for vehicles. Specifically I was thinking if bpos for vehicles works the same as it does for everything else, could an extremely wealthy person not just buy a bpo for every item in an awesome tank and just spam them into the battlefield? You can do this now with free jeeps, so wouldn't you be able to do the same thing with tanks? |

this would only happen if, like in EVE you actually had to build the vehicles or gear.
which would mean gathering or buying the ingredients. |

The LAV BPO is annoying. I hope it gets scrapped soon. |

In EVE, BPOs are valuable, but you have to actually buy the materials to manufacture everything, whether it's BPO or BPC. In that case, BPOs might be okay, but not the way they work now, where it's unlimited free copies. |

I have to agree. The thing is no matter how much these two games are entertwined by their respective origins, and mythology it still stands that they are two very different games. Balancing and controlling the BPO (Blueprint Originals) is a must for Dust514. Otherwise you start to imbalance the game, and water it down heavily. CCP has done a good job thus far, and the only reason there were any BPO's for vehicles last build was to allow everyone to test out the vehicles, and simulate an over saturated battlefield over populated by said vehicles. It was not pretty, and it proved valuable information. BPO's even above standard tech levels for dropsuits would be a bad idea. Infact a horrible idea. Keeping them balanced is hard enough, and even while balanced people complain. Giving the population BPO's on tanks even militia grade would diminish the value of tanks as a vital corporation asset, or lessen the risk greatly to those investing in them. Spamming tanks without risk or repracutions would be a bad thing. As it stands the price for standard vehicles is priced alright, but I still feel personally that there needs to be an even larger gap in prices still between the next two levels of vehicles. Which would make them more better corporate assets. No lone gunning tank operator should ever be able to call in more then one tank a round especially without deeply risking their accounts (bank accounts) at the very least. Keeping these risks and notions there is better for the whole. Mandating the need for pooled money from a corp. and the need to fuel the ongoing war for resources which we fight for. If anyone could call in tanks they'd have lost their role, and beomce something else entirely. More like an abusable commodity. Which is sort of where they stand now.. The skills are not expensive enough, the requirements are too low, and I press that prices are too low. That may just be me though. |

I'm sure there is some way to balance this without simply excluding them all together. The market will go a long way to balance things itself. If it is possible to do something like spam free awesome tanks, then the bpos would most likely cost billions if not a trillion isk. However if a limit was put on them, say, one bpo can only deploy to one battle one time, that would bring down the price and prevent abuse. (Note, the above should only be for vehicles. Would suck if dropsuit bpo's were like this although a similar limit on proto bpo's could be useful, maybe 8 deploys per bpo?) |
