What LAVs should be:
LAVs should be the kings of the open road, and dominate wide open areas of terrain. They should be the best option for moving infantry across open spaces with little or no cover. Their speed and maneuverability should be their primary defense mechanisms.
What LAVs are now:
In the current build an LAV in the open is DEAD. AV weaponry is MORE effective against LAVs than what its really for, which is tank-busting and anti-air.
LAVs are most effective in large but enclosed spaces where they aren't easily targeted by swarms, and infantry have too little time to react to a hunk of metal handbraking around a corner.
LAVs are not fast enough to outrun swarms, especially if you happen to be headed up-hill, and their maneuverability is destroyed by being ragdolled around by everything, getting spun around by swarms and grenades, being almost completely stopped in their tracks by CORPSES getting stuck on the grill, and unpredictable responses to terrain.
The passenger seat is useless for anything but the mundane task of moving someone around, and is crippled in its potential as a platform for squad command by the inability to call down orbital strikes whilst in a vehicle.
Proposals:
Swarm Missile speed reduced to just under LAV max speed.
AV grenades be modified to have damage and target seeking capabilities that scale with the mass of the target (ie greater attraction and damage the bigger the vehicle.
Reduce physics effects on vehicles already, its a multi-tonne chunk of space metal, not a remote control car.
Vehicles should SPLATTER corpses, not get stuck on them.
Fix the driving model, and the controls (separate steering and acceleration).
Add the ability to call orbital strikes when in vehicle (keep RDV calls locked out if you want)
Add the option to shoot from the passenger seat.
Add a driver's seat style third-person view from the passenger seat for commanders and squad leaders to view the battlefield and issue orders.
Add a command LAV with better sensors that boosts commander and squad leader bonuses.
Add a repair turret option for LAVs (particularly logi LAVs) so gunners can rep other vehicles.
Add an APC LAV, no turret, but larger capacity, and a covered compartment to better protect passengers.
Add a supply LAV where mercs can refit.
Add an anti-air LAV, with a battery of 2 or 3 linked turrets, but only room for a driver and gunner.
Fix the locking mechanism for Logistics LAVs. |

You're talking about the free LAV right? The ones you pay for are far tougher. Especially the logistics one. So I poo poo on that side of things. Free should mean free kill ;)
The ideas for types of LAV sound just right though except the repair turret. Here's hoping for a 4 seater. |

All i want is a rugged, agile platform with simple controls and a turret attached that would put ANY HMG user to shame (for the love of god its a gun mounted to a truck! give it some stoping power! ) . For any more inspiration look at Starhawk's LAV the razorback. it's not the best game ill admit, but they nailed vehicle combat.

the Limbus/Charybdis are are basically fast driving tanks. Its extreme hard to take them out cause of their inbuild damage resistance and with some extra modules they are epic. Only dowside is that they have decreased damage output. Means the turret on the back does only 50% damage as usual. So you can basically ditch the attack function of it and mainly transport people. You maybe want a CRU installed on it. And you can support heavy's damn good with a limbus simple to the fact of its unique remote armor repair module for dropsuits. This means you can lock on a guy who has low armor and repair him back to full into seconds. Another thing is you can lock on multiple targets aswell. So if you want to take over a hard defended target, get 2 HMG guys, drive them close to the objective, let them get out, lock on and let 2 heavys clear out a position with 10 guys on it. |
